One of Radio Magnetic’s top artists of 2008 (watch this space for the run down) has to be Santogold. Leaping out of Diplo’s studio Santi has taken the UK by storm and this week is your chance to see the creator in the flesh.

Ending 2008 with the same glittering bang she entered it with, Santogold releases her new single ‘Say Aha’ on November 24th.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock this year you will have noticed the enigmatic New Yorker infiltrate our musical worlds and pricking up our ears with her debut long player ‘Santogold’. Vast and experimental in sound – from new wave offerings to dub induced dancehall beats – she won everyone’s hearts with her ability to pen a cracking, unique pop tune.

The wonderful ‘Say Aha’ sets out over sparkling reggae horns and trembling bass lines. With typical defiant Santogold lyrics delivered in a mish mash of styles from ethereal singing to toasting style chanting, ‘Say Aha’ is a relevant, upbeat pop song from its newest enchanting princess.

It’s no secret everyone has been eager to come out and tip Santogold as their favourite new act from Mark Ronson to Bjork to Kanye West. The latter being such a big fan that he’s asked Santi to be the main to support on his ‘Glow In The Dark’ European tour this Autumn. Santogold will be back with her live band in the New Year for her own headline national tour.

  1. I’ll be interested to see if she actually turns up!!

  2. Kanye West and new logo…

Kanye West went to classify his new disc as a pop album, stating his disdain towards the contemporary backlash to the concept of pop music and showed admiration for what some pop stars have accomplished in their lives….
