Competitions, Gig Guide:
27.08.08 | Win The Bug Tickets And Albums

In recent years Soundcrash have been working London hard and running folk ragged with meaty names like Luke Vibert, DJ Kentaro, Kode 9 and Krush.

About time, then, they brought themselves to Glasgow and who better to coax them northward for a party on 12th September than our very own Boom Monk Ben and his Mixed Bizness Crew.

The Bug and Warrior Queen are live and are on the legendary Mungo’s Hi-Fi rig. An unrivalled soundsystem to bombard you with dark animal beats and basslines to gurgle your gut. The Bug’s latest album ‘London Zoo’ (Ninja Tune) features 2007’s landmark release Poison Dart with Warrior Queen, as well as equally troubling numbers with Flowdan, Tippa Irie, Ricky Ranking and Spaceape.

Also playing on the night…

DJ A’ La Fu (Big Dada / Ninja Tune) has been working in association with some of the most respected names in hip-hop consistently since 1996 – Infesticons / Majesticons, Roots Manuva, Mike Ladd - and involved with seminal label Big Dada since its conception. Check out his live mix from Moscow on Radio Magnetic.

Memory9 (SUBcltr / Soundcrash Records) A self described ‘electronic postmodern deconstructivist luckdragon on wheels’, it would be perhaps more accurate to place him up high, where he belongs, next to Prefuse 73 and Autechre.

Competition

Now, we know as a Radio Magnetic listener that this will be right up your street and you’ll be itching to go along on the night. That’s why we’ve got a pair of tickets and 2 copies of The Bug’s latest album ‘London Zoo’ to give away.

Don’t forget to fill out the comments form so we can contact you if you’ve won.

    this wee guy’s well cool!!!

  4. Damn, looks like London Zoo doesn’t have Capybaras any more, those wee guys are awesome.

The Bearded Pig is also pretty cool though. It seems that only big cats and pythons can take him down so he must be pretty hard. He’s also got some tasteful facial hair.

  5. I’ll go with Red faced black spider monkey, cause a) it’s got a pretty epic name, b) sounds like it could be a Ghostface Killah lyric and c) is the closest to the rat monkey from Braindead that I can find…

The Komodo Dragon is best as not only does it have deadly bacteria on its saliva, but once you skin it it makes a lovely dressing gown.
