20.10.08 | Esau Mwamawaya And Radio Clit At The Electric Proms

Now, this is an interesting set up. Having met while working in the same street in Dalston, North London, Radio Clit and Esau Mwamawaya have been working on a project together for two years now, and we’ll be able to hear the results of that project very soon.

With Radio Clit’s Etienne Tron and Johan Karlberg coming from France and Sweden, and Mwamawaya originating from Malawi, the trio set out to make music that celebrated their international influences. The trio have recorded an album with the help of the likes of Vampire Weekend, MIA and Marina Vello of Brazilian three-piece Bonde Do Role, and that long player is now due for release next spring.

But you don’t have to wait that long to hear some of the fruits of their labours. On 1 Dec they release ‘Mixtape Vol. 1′, which will feature tracks from the album, as well as unique collaborations with MIA and Santogold on the track ‘Get It Up’, and fresh takes on MIA’s ‘Paper Planes’, Hans Zimmer’s ‘True Romance OST’ and Michael Jackson’s ‘Will You Be There’.
