16.09.08 | Jack White Unhappy With Coke

Jack White has said that he is “disappointed” that the first airing of the song he and Alicia Keys recorded for the new James Bond film ‘Quantum Of Solace’ was on a TV advert for Coke Zero, which is being re-branded Coke Zero Zero 7 as part of a co-promotion with the film.

As previously, White recorded ‘Another Way To Die’ with Alicia Keys, fending off competition to record the latest official Bond song from Amy Winehouse and Mark Ronson.

In a statement, Jack White’s manager said: “Jack White was commissioned by Sony Pictures to write a theme song for the James Bond film ‘Quantum Of Solace’, not for Coca Cola. Any other use of the song is based on decisions made by others, not by Jack White. We are disappointed that you first heard the song in a co-promotion for Coke Zero, rather than in its entirety”.

  1. Surely it’s a bit late for him to be moaning about it now. Maybe if he wasn’t so busy counting his pennies after signing the contract in the first place he might have had more time to read over the small print.

  2. Very true,
should really check what rights you’ve got before signing a publishing contract. Especially when working with a big player such as the bond films and having been a mainstream musician for so long. Finger off the pulse perhaps?
