20.11.08 | Justice Fake Live Set?

justice fake 450

Rumours are abound that the recent live set performed by Justice at The Warehouse party was actually a fake!

The picture above shows Gaspard Auge on a midi controller that is neither plugged in or powered on. The fact that he seems to be going for it as well has led many to believe that it was a bit of a Top Of The Pops perfermance.

However, Justice have hit back and claimed that they soon noticed after that photo was taken that the contorller was unplugged and quickly amended the situation. Easy mistake for anyone but it does leave you wondering…

  1. Didn’t know Alice Cooper was in Justice!!

  2. he plugged it back in soon afterwards, dont you see that bottle of booze lying around – shit happens

  3. Haha! well spotted Vics.

Yes we know it was probably just a big “oops” but it’s a good story.

  4. No way man you can’t miss turning on an mpd24 like that ’cause they have a big blue flashy display that is even too bright for the eye. And I also saw a picture where they only powered it and no connection was made! Neither midi or usb! That’s a big LOL ’bout the ‘oops’ theory. Faaake live set. Maybe he was on acid and actually saw that light…..

  5. Eh shut up you biters, its not fake negavintage. the fact is that on an MPD the light isnt that hard to miss. i have a friend who uses one live and its not all that noticable, add in the alcohol and all the other elements and i can tell you it was an accident. not to mention there were 3 other pictures published of them plugging it back in. and wen you ae running a device with live, which is what i assume they were doing, your not always staring right at the thing you are looking at you computer

  6. damn… it’s amazing what people will say to back others up, even when they don’t know the ‘actual’ facts behind something. the issue here is… was it a fake set? and if it was… does it really matter? i mean… if justice prepared the set in their home studio, and put their heart and soul into making it, and then played it ‘live’ to an audience, adding a bit of a performance to their show… does it really matter? would that really bother you? personally… i’ve been to an aphex twin gig, where i know for a fact that the twin was playing the set from a pre-recorded session he’d composed prior to the gig. still… the music was damn top notch as always, and i danced all the farking way through it. knowing it was pre-prepared didn’t diminish any of the vibe i was feeling that night. so… my question is to all of you reading this (as perceptive stances vary so much between individual human beings). does it really matter if wasn’t a live set???

  7. there is a difference between bussing down tracks to use for live performances to save cpu), and flat out faking like this. Love their music, but they are posing here. Sad thing is, they got payed more to do a ‘live act.’ Lots of times it takes way too much processing power to replicate in real time 100% of the show, every track. There is definite difference. If you aren’t playing ‘live’ advertise it as a digital set or something. They know they are faking, and sadly…99% are faked. This comes from 10 yrs of being a live performer, and seeing the acts backstage and admitting it.

  8. Ah man, I can’t believe this. Justice has been my favourite act for ages. My friends an electronic dj and I know how planned everything is. But there is a difference between planning something and completly faking it. When you go to a live show you expect to see them live that’s the reason you going to see the “live” show, so yes it does make a difference. No doubt if I had to see Justice I would froth. Their excuse is believable but this does still makes me wonder.
