Rave on through winter, get exclusive free music downloads and support Radio Magnetic.
We’re excited to announce details of Radio Magnetic’s Christmas Party. Our Winter Rave 2010 takes place at Glasgow’s SWG3 venue on Saturday 18 December from 9pm ’til late. We’ll be showcasing some of our favourite acts from this year and sharing exclusive free music downloads with everyone who contributes towards the costs of the event in advance (see below).
First up, we have the latest Phuturelabs signing, hip hop and electronic beat maker and Radio Magnetic’s in house sound editor, S-Type showcasing a mixture of tunes from his forthcoming Medusa EP, some older productions, collaborations and a few surprises. This young man is definitely one to watch in 2011.
The newest addition to one of the finest indie labels in the UK of the last fifteen years, FOUND will also play live. With their new LP on Chemikal Underground due for release in March, they promise to offer us a glimpse of their new material as well as back catalogue which has already endeared them to a cult following in this country and further afield. Take this trio’s mix of garage rock, post-punk, catchy, melodic indie-pop and glitchy electronic beats and you have one of the most exciting Scottish bands we’ve seen in years.
Also playing live, a set from influential and forward thinking music and art collective LuckyMe‘s founding fathers, The Blessings, rocking their trademark futuristic, glistening hip hop and electronic beats designed for the dancefloor.
On DJ duties before, during and after these three tremendous acts will be the Radio Magnetic Soundsystem, joined by Solid Steel mainstay and the man behind Glasgow’s Mixed Bizness and Hows Your Party? club nights, Boom Monk Ben spinning a solid, electronic house selection.
We’re not selling tickets to the Winter Rave. Instead, to make this night happen we need 350 or more people to make a contribution towards costs in advance via our EventBrite page. The minimum donation we’re looking for is £5 to cover our costs and enable the party to happen, although supporters are welcome to donate more if they wish. Everyone who makes an advance contribution of at least £5 will receive an exclusive download package of tunes compiled by the artists and DJs performing, when they come to the night.
Proceeds will cover venue and event costs and performers with any surplus going towards the running of Radio Magnetic, the UK’s longest running internet radio station. Please get involved and spread the word, friends. It’s going to be big. Contributions can be made on our EventBrite page until Friday 17 December at 6pm. After that, if there’s still space, additional donations may be made on the door.
