This year, Henry Smithson, better known as electro house maestro Riton, stunned fans with a radical about-turn: a new project, called Eine Kleine Nacht Musik, and a new record of the same name, which was an incredible departure from the body of work he has become known for. Beautifully packaged with artwork by Fergadelic and launched with an accompanying 10 minute film by David Bailey Ross, “Eine Kleine Nacht Musik” was an elegantly poised, sublimely cosmic tribute to Krautrock, and one which slyly winked at the past while also sounding like a twinkling vision of the future.
Now, Smithson in association with Future Cinema (the innovators behind Future Shorts and Secret Cinema) will take his project one step further; by creating an immersive, all-encompassing cinematic environment which will bring the music of Eine Kleine Nacht Musik to vivid life for one night only.
Hosted within the enchanted Coronet Theatre, the Eine Kleine Nachtmusik and Future Cinema collaboration will see room 3 of the venue undergo a complete overhaul as it becomes transformed into an innovative, tactile experience through which the audience will walk and interact, as Henry Smithson soundtracks the room with a rare and exclusive DJ set in his guise as Eine Kleine Nachtmusik and a little help from friends Zongamin Soundsystem and Rory Phillips. The room itself will be remade under the inspiration of the 10 minute ‘Phantom’ directed short film which accompanied the album release earlier this year. Expect to be transported to into a moonscape world where solar systems projecting images and help create an all enveloping audio and visual sensation reflective of the mood and ambience of the record in what promises to be a thrillingly distinctive, one-off excursion into the bewitched and bewildered world of Eine Kleine Nacht Musik.
