So out with the old and in with the new…
We were growing a bit tired of the way Radio Magnetic looked and worked so we decided to bring it right up to speed with Radio Magnetic 5.0.
There’s a new look to the site, which you seen before you, and we’ve got loads of new features and ideas that are up already or will be on the site soon. We’ll be tweaking things over the next couple of weeks so let us know what you like and what needs improving.
There’s some lovely new interactive features in the new site which we think you’ll love using, so to get you started here’s a wee guide to the new changes…
Content
First of all you’ll notice that some of the content has disappeared and some of the shows have gone as well. This is so that we have a much more stream lined look with regularly updated shows and only the best features. It also gives us room to play around with new ideas and welcome new presenters to the family such as the brilliant Electronic Explorations presented by Rob Booth.
Comments
We’ve also added comments to the bottom of each piece of content so if you’re listening to one of our shows you can now communicate with the presenters and if you’re checking out one of our features then tell us if you want more. Get started and tell us what you think of the new look at the bottom of this page. We’ll answer back asap!
Media Bar
One of the big new additions is the media bar. You’ll find this at the top of each page and it has a number of nice wee features in it.

Listen Hi or Low
Listen Hi and Listen Low buttons allow you to listen to audio in either high quality for broadband or low quality for those with dialup. As usual we’re streaming with Windows Media Audio (WMA) which shouldn’t be a problem if you’re on a PC but our Mac and Linux friends can use Flip4Mac and Mplayer to tune in.
Podcasts
Some of the shows on Radio Magnetic are available as a podcast so to make things easier you can now subscribe to them with one click of the Podcast button. Not all our shows are available in this way but we’re working on it.
RSS
The RSS button allows you to subscribe to each show or feature so you can keep up to date with your favourite show, listen to the freshest guest mix or keep tabs on the news. Just click on the RSS button and subscribe with your favourite RSS reader whether it’s Outlook, Thunderbird, iGoogle or Bloglines.
Share
Another nice addition is the Share button which you can use to email you’re mates about a new show, add our content to your Facebook and MySpace or get on the social bookmarking scene and add us to your del.icio.us, Digg and Reddit accounts. Have a play about with it and let us know how you get on.
Well that’s probably enough for you to start playing with but if you get stuck with anything leave us a comment and we’ll try and help you out.
Oh almost forgot…
Shop
We’ve got a new Radio Magnetic shop! Oh yes, you too can look the business with our selection of fine Magnetic Apparel and as a tidy bonus you’ll help keep us running. We’ve plans for limited edition T-Shirts designed by some of our arty friends but you’ll just have to watch this space. If you’re an artist and would like to design a T give us a shout! There’s always room for more friends at Radio Magnetic GHQ (Galactic Head Quarters).
So! Go have fun and look out for tons of exciting new content cause we’ve got some big surprises on the way.
Have a good one,
Tony

What happened to Astrolab??? That was the best show ever…. Can you please tell me how I can access the archives, because I used to listen to Miss Van Der Rohe’s show on repeat… HELP!
Hey Vic, cheers!
Yeah their great. Think we’re gonna have one that says ‘Get Baked with Radio Magnetic.com’. watch this space…
Ah good old Astro Lab. It’s a favourite of mine as well but we thought people had gone off it a bit.
Obviously we were wrong and I’ll work on bringing back the Astro Lab archives this week. ESPECIALLY the Miss Van Der Rohe’s show.
If any one else is missing their favourite show or archived content let me know and I’ll see what I can do to put things right.
