Hinterland Festival returns to Glasgow on Saturday 3 April. This year’s lineup includes Mystery Jets, British Sea Power and Jeffrey Lewis plus DJ sets from Friendly Fires and Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard.

Radio Magnetic are very pleased to announce that we’ll be hosting the Arches event as part of Hinterland which features Friendly Fires and Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard amongst some more treats and surprises including a Ballers Social Club showcase and The Greco Roman Soundsystem.

On Thursday 18 March we’re taking part in a day of exploration, exposition, conversation and critical thinking around the online and digital opportunities for organisations today, new business models and audience development in the digital age at Eden Court in Inverness.

The event is completely free and open to all arts organisations and individuals interested in digital development who would like to come along. Its going to be a very informative and enjoyable day and if you have an interest in the digital age in any respect and Inverness isn’t too far a treck we strongly recommend coming along. The workshop we’re presenting is called ‘See and be Seen, Hear and be Heard’ and is a guide to using free online tools to benefit your organisation and reach new audiences and increase awareness of your cause.

The event at Eden Court in Inverness lasts from 9:15am – 5pm (Live online evencast 9.40am – 2.25pm)

The day will also feature keynote speaker Bill Thompson, freelance writer and consultant who works with the BBC; case studies from Jane Hogg, Arts and Theatre’s Trust Fife and Jamie Wooldridge, Ludus Dance and Public Arts at Lancaster University (incorporating The Nuffield Theatre, Lancaster Concerts Series and the Peter Scott Gallery). Plus workshops in Intellectual Property from Intellectual Assets Centre and their partner for this event Euan Duncan of McClure Naismith and Digital Video from New Media Scotland.

Edinburgh’s Departure Lounge have got a very special night planned for Saturday 24 April. Three exceptional guests on one line-up for their annual Saturday soiree at The Caves (they normally take over the venue on Fridays). And we’re going along to record it and chat to these fine three guests on the night. You should get down there too.

The event at the end of April will see Bass Clef, the 9 piece Hypnotic Brass Emsemble and the SoulJazz Orchestra join Departure Lounge regulars, Astroboy, Jiminez and Mr Zimbabwe for what looks like the best line up for a night out in Edinburgh this year so far, by far. Expect bass, afrobeat, dubstep, dub, funk and soul in this night of afrocentric vibrations: ancient and future.

Tennent’s are once again on the lookout for the best unsigned musical talent in Scotland to play the T Break stage at T in the Park 2010.

Since 1996 Tennent’s have been giving unsigned Scottish musicians a chance to showcase in front of Scotland’s most passionate music fans and the T Break panel of industry judges. The new T Break website launches on the Wednesday 17 March and will be releasing more entry information in the coming weeks.

This year’s festival takes place from the 9th to the 11th of July in Balado near Kinross and features a star studded lineup including hip hop heavy weights Jay Z, Dizzee Rascal and Eminem as well as Hot CHip, Mayer Hawthorne, Vampire Weekend, Plastikman and Four Tet (and that’s just for starters).

If you’re an aspiring artist or in a band then get your demo’s ready and you could be featured on the same lineup!

Tickets are only £10 for early birds and this ticket allows access to all events, venues and gigs over the course of the Saturday. Sounds like a bargain to us.

As one of the most influential electronic bands of all time, Leftfield delved into a new style of music that no one had ever touched on before. The fusion of epic soundscapes with intoxicating rhythms in their album, Leftism, was what truly marked them in dance music history. The Face magazine described it as  “… the best dance album ever.” Even now, bands such as The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers and Underworld are still inspired to use the pounding beats of Leftfield although none of it compares.

Jim King, Festival Director and huge fan of Leftfield shared his excitement by saying:  “We’ve been trying to get Leftfield to do some shows for years and now its actually going to happen.” After last year’s great success, RockNess 2010 takes place on Friday 11 June to Sunday 13 June which is sure to bring an outstanding line up of acts to the stage for another year.

Label bosses, King Creosote and The Pictish Trail, will be hosting this incredible event from Friday 12 to Sunday 14 March 2010 with performances not only from numerous artists on the esteemed indie label’s roster, but a whole range of other up-and-coming Scottish, UK and international acts. This year’s exciting lineup was revealed in a special article by The List magazine. There will of course be the usual suspects playing: King Creosote performing his new album seven times over the weekend and The Pictish Trail performing songs from his recent 100 Days project.

Jon Hopkins (pictured) headlines the Saturday night with music from his album Insides and Four Tet will be headlining the closing night on Sunday with an electrifying act drawing on his new long-player. On Friday Fence’s finest new signing; François & The Atlas Mountains will be playing a fusion of ‘folk-tinged balladry with African percussion’ in what ought to be a very special performance indeed.

As well as these specially mentioned acts there will be plenty more talented artists performing over the weekend. To name a few: Panda Su, The Bluebells, RememberRemember, Findo Gas, Kid Canaveral, Eagleowl, Adem, Rocketnumbernine, Pantha Du Prince, Little Pebble, H.M.S and, the BAFTA-award winning, FOUND will all be bringing something unique and stunning to the festival. On Saturday 6 February the Radio Magnetic Soundsystem will be supplying the pre-club beats at The Ivy in Glasgow once again. The dates coincides with the birthday and final day of  one of the most boundary pushing and pioneering producers of the last decade, J Dilla and The Ivy stint will be a celebration of his work and fitting tribute to the man.

He’s the latest in a string of top notch forward looking a futuristic beat makers to come out of Glasgow in recent years helping cement the city’s position as the home and centre of current UK electronic music at its most cutting edge.
