Win tickets to see !!! (chk chk chk) at the Classic Grand, Glasgow on Radio Magnetic.

Since the release of their eponymous debut album in 2000, !!! (or Chk Chk Chk) have gained a well deserved reputation for their amazingly energetic, vital and at times manic live shows.

Now, the band have returned with a new album, Strange Weather Isn’t it? recorded in Berlin, New York and Sacramento. We think its their most consistent LP to date. So, with a record full of new songs burning a hole in their back pockets, the band are set to embark on a world tour. Showcasing the best of their new material, classics from the back catalogue and the energetic live performance that they have become synonymous with. Expect psychedelic funk, punk, house reworkings and extended versions of their tunes at this gig. We can’t wait to see them again.

Homeclubbing Party With Phuturelabs, B-Movie Junkies And More

We thought it was about time we put another party on for you people, so get yourselves along to The Admiral, Waterloo St, Glasgow on Friday 10 September if you’d like to join us. From 11pm – 3am (£4).

Top of the bill we have the lovely gents that run the estimable Phuturelabs.com blog and who also showcase their tastes on a monthly Radio Magnetic podcast. These lads know modern electronic music inside out and know how to get a party rocking. Check ‘em out a week before they launch their very own record label at The Ivy.

The Radio Magnetic Soundsystem and Davie from One Louder will also be providing some help on the wheels of steel and there may even be a special guest slot or two. Check out One Louder‘s podcast for RM too.

We also have a live band in the shape of up and coming, disco-punk soulsters B-Movie Junkies. We’ve caught a handful of this band’s recent gigs and they are destined for big things. Believe us.

Next Friday see’s the return of a How’s Your Party? favourite to the Sub Club in Glasgow.

After making their Scottish debut at HYP? in December 2008, Benni G and Plus One AKA Jackbeats have been invited back and will be bringing there own particular brand of bass heavy electronic house that has made them one of the most exciting production duos working today.

Joining Jackbeats on Friday 27 August will be German party starter Malente making his Sub Club debut and new Mixed Bizness resident MGCK for what is set to be one of the parties of the year.

Advance tickets are available from Ticket Scotland. There will be a limited number on the door but tickets are selling fast so book now to avoid disappointment.

LuckyMe Fringe Festival Party

This Friday the LuckyMe family roll into Edinburgh with their annual fringe festival party at Cabaret Voltaire.

For the bargin price of a fiver you lucky punters get six hours of music from some of the brightest lights around right now, in the world.

Headlining the evening is Scottish Warp signed producer and pioneer of what some have deemed the aqua crunk revolution, Hudson Mohawke, whos recent set at Barcelona’s Sonar showed just how far young Scottish talent can go. Also providing musical delights will be Numbers mainstay, Jackmaster as well as American Men, The Blessings, Eclair Fifi and everyone’s favourite MC funk collaborator Olivier Daysoul. Up and coming talent is represented by the likes of Glasgows Taz Buckfaster, Bamboo Palace and Dema.

Radio Magnetic will be recording the evening’s audio entertainment so keep them eyes peeled to radiomagnetic.com/homeclubbing for the fruits of that in the coming weeks.

The party isn’t ticketed and its pretty much guaranteed to be rammed so get lucky and get down there early.

Deep Cover Launches at Stereo, Glasgow

New night from the brains behind Radio Magnetic’s Broken Ear show, Deep Cover kick starts this Friday 6 August at Stereo in Glasgow.

Its a mad world out there, and we all need a bit of shelter from the streets of Glasgow from time to time.

Nestled down an alley in the centre of town sits Stereo, a cozy li’l spot for vegetarians, students and those few looking for music that’s a bit out of the norm. Head down there this Friday and you’ll find Deep Cover, the club that acts like a pub, playing music ranging from afro-beat, (and other styles fitting in the ‘World’ category) to Garage rock, to modern lo-fi tunes- if you’ve heard RM’s Broken Ear then you might have an idea of what to expect. You’ll find the venue to be more homely than when you went last, with seating, extra decour and projections.

There’s also live music from Phat Trophies, a wurlitzer/drums duo, and Tokamak, once described as “a skint version of Battles”. And good time tunes all night long. So get down at 11pm when the doors open to kick start your weekend the right way.

This Friday 6 August, the Radio Magnetic Soundsystem will be providing the musical backdrop as you enjoy the start of a fantastic weekend, at The Ivy, in Glasgow’s Finnieston. Expect the hear some of the finest new music known to humanity.

From 8pm until late pm, the team will DJ and delight your ears with a selection of their favourite new releases of the last six months and they may even get their classics out too.

The Ivy is one of our favourite bars in the city and has enough of a range of exotic and obscure alcoholic beverages to make even the most hardened mixologist sit up and take note. AND they also serve pints. Add to this an excellent and affordable bar menu, wonderful staff and our tunes and you have all the merry makings of a great Friday night.

This Sunday 1 August, while Glasgow basks in the electronic and post-punk vibes of the Electric Frog Street Carnival, our Edinburgh friends and counterparts will be treated to the second part of the mighty Departure Lounge’s seventh birthday party celebrations.

One of the UK’s true pioneer bands and first rate live act The Bays headline a night of extraordinary musical progression that also feature Edinburgh’s own Hidden Orchestra (formerly Joe Acheson Quartet – now signed to Tru Thoughts, on the verge of big tings) and Edinburgh cosmic beat-maker Asthmatic Astronaut. Listen online to our exlusive preview podcast for The Electric Frog Street Carnival. The event takes place on Sunday 1 August at SWG3 Studios in Glasgow’s west end.

The micro-festival is a unique collaboration between the very best of Glasgow’s artistic and musical communities with a diverse programme of live performances, installations, graffiti art and DJ sets across three stages.
