We are very pleased to announce details of a music video showcase happening as part of the short film strand of The Glasgow Film Festival organised by our friends at the Magic Lantern.

On Saturday 20 February at Glasgow’s CCA venue we invite you to come and watch Images From The Independent Music Scene In Glasgow. The screening is a tour through the eyes of music video makers into Glasgow’s independent music heritage of the last 30 years. From post-punk to aqua-crunk.

Its on from 9 until 10.30pm on the Saturday night of The Glasgow Short Film Festival. Afterwards there’ll be an afterparty at the CCA with Andrew Divine, Stephen Pastel and David Barbarossa and more on the weedgy wheels of steel playing out a selection of Glasgow based indie that you can dance to (and some surprises too) until the wee small hours.

Full details of the event and ticket info can be found on the Glasgow Film Festival website. We’re very proud of this screening and hope you can make it along.

Other highlights at the festival include the debut screening of Mogwai’s Burning live film, the American Men album launch put together by the LuckyMe Collective and special DJ sets from Huntley and Palmers Audio Club and Optimo.

Get to The Ivy, Glasgow, this Friday where The Radio Magnetic Soundsystem will provide the musical accompaniment to your after work tipple. There may even be a special friendly guest or two.

The Radio Magnetic Soundsystem will be let loose on the streets (well a pub) of Finnieston, Glasgow once again this Friday. That’s Friday 30 October, where the RM team and perhaps a special friendly guest or two will provide the musical accompaniment to your after work tipple.

Should start off nice and relaxed style and progress into an electronic party-starting shakedown jamboree. It’s totally FREE as ever, and The Ivy is definitely one of our favourite bars in the city. A fine selection of beers, wonderful staff, comfortable seats, a lovely clientelle, nice pictures on the walls and us playing tunes. What more could you want between 8 and 12 on a Friday night?

See you at the bar.

Scottish Enterprise want to celebrate The MOBO Awards taking place in Glasgow on Wednesday 30 September. They contacted Radio Magnetic's parent company, Inner Ear, to organise an event on the eve of the awards ceremony at The Hub, in Glasgow.

Scottish Enterprise want to celebrate The MOBO Awards taking place in Glasgow on Wednesday 30 September. They contacted Radio Magnetic’s parent company, Inner Ear, to organise an event on the eve of the awards ceremony at The Hub, Pacific Quay, Glasgow. We were really interested by the concept of The MOBO Awards coming to Glasgow so we, alongside Soma Skool, Open Ear and New Media Corp have devised the Glasgow. Music. Now. event.

It’s absolutely free and all starts at 1pm on Tuesday 29 September so get there for 12.30 if you think it would interest you.

Glagow. Music. Now. will showcase a selection of excellent Glasgow acts performing, including Punjabi No. 1, Preston Reed, S-Type and Scatterbrain feat. Loki, Marrik and Depths and the Flyin’ Jalapenos breakdancing troupe. There will be music industry and educational stalls, demos and workshops throughout the course of the day (including demonstrations on Ableton Live and video making on a budget) and two panel discussions. The first of these panel debates will be chaired by Channel 4 Nations and Regions Director, Stuart Cosgrove and sitting on the panel we have Mickey Ferrari (Umoja Events), Esa Williams (Sub Club), Laura McCrum (Urbanscot) and MC Profisee (Cloak x Dagger) debating the relevance of MOBO in Glasgow via two discussions: Scotland’s Cultural Soul in the Digital Age; and What do you know about The MOBO Awards.

The second panel is a general music industry discussion organised by the James Watt College Music Business Department. On the day you’ll receive a free goodie bag courtesy of the good people at Soma Recordings and there will be a raffle in aid of the Nordoff Robins music therapy trust, where you’ll stand the chance to win, a Flip Camera, Traktor Duo software, MOBO tickets and mini Pro Tools studio set-up. Anyone with an interest in MOBO or an interest in the music business in Glasgow should head along on Tuesday for what should be an informative and entertaining day. For those who aren’t able to attend this event Radio Magnetic will be documenting the entire event and audio and video extracts will be available from the Radio Magnetic website in the coming weeks.

The people that brought you the boutique festival with the most astounding surroundings we’ve seen in a long time have organised a reunion party for this Saturday.

The Viewpoint Session, will feature some of the DJs and acts that performed at the festival and a handful of new faces too. Set in the viepoint area of the festival grounds, where the dance and electronic orientated side of the festival line-up was showcased, this should be quite an end of summer party.

Ever reliable festival favourites and masters of bass, Mungo’s Hi-Fi will be headlining with help from DJ No Face, Astrojazz, Brain D’Souza and Radio Magnetic Soundsystem’s very own Dougal Perman amongst others.

The fun begins at 7pm and goes on until very late with camping available for the revellers as well as great food, a well stocked bar and woodland frolics a go-go. Tickets cost £15 with all proceeds going towards next year’s festival.
