We caught up with the pioneering UK electronic producer and DJ on the run up to the release of his latest project, MAVIS. A tribute of sorts to Mavis Staples in which Ashley collaborates with Candi Staton, Kurt Wagner, Edwyn Collins and many more talented singer-songwriters and artists.

Here, Mr Beedle chats about Boy’s Own, the early days of house and techno in the UK, what lead him to DJing, the new project on !K7 and what the future holds for the former X Press 2, Black Science Orchestra and Ballistic Brothers man.

King Creosote Interview

Back in December we caught up with one of our favourite UK artists of the last decade, King Creosote for a chat about the East Neuk of Fife based Fence collective and label’s history, output and his plans going forward.

At the Fence Records Xmas Special at the Tollbooth in Stirling, Fence’s head-honcho Kenny Anderson, AKA King Creosote (and not to be confused with those other famous KCs, King Crimson or Kid Creole) performed with the Skuobhie Dubh Orchestra with assistance from Pictish Trail and Whithered Hand. It was a great night and we managed to grab Kenny for a blether after the gig.

I can’t tell you how excited everyone in Radio Magnetic is about the recent announcement from The Prodigy that there’s a new album just around the corner!

Get the 2nd of March ‘09 marked in your diary cause thats when the next masterpiece from Hewlet and co is set to drop but you don;t have to wait until then to get yer lugs round some Prodigy goodness because the lads have taken things into their own hands on their own label ‘Take Me To The Hospital’ which means we get a pre release listen to their first single ‘Invaders Must Die’ for free.
