Scottish dubstep producers and Black Acre label mates, Akira Kiteshi drop a blistering mix for one of Rob Booths finest shows.

Now it’s 2009 and after being swooped on by the infamous Black Acre orphanage for electronically gifted, A.K. have seen a meteoric assent through the Dubstep scene via a pincer movement performed by both Rob Booth and DJ N-Type. The catalyst; a little tune called Pinball capturing the best elements of modern electronic music and fusing them into an 8bit punch up between Rusko & DJ Shadow.

To come….. after wowing the kids with their non-genre specific brand of Glitch funk A.K. will be featuring as primary remixer on the pending release of Unique 3′s classic “Shades of Grey” Via Mutate Records (April).

While keeping true to their roots, wonky outfitter Dealmaker will be dropping the vertigo inducing Donk! EP.

Lastly and on the not too distant Horizon, Black Acre will be presenting A.K.s debut album to the world, as yet untitled early reports liken the listening experience to an overly warm bubble bath with Rick James & Barbarella while battling biz markie on Street fighter 2 turbo on the SNES.

Watch for the promo only “Ulysses” Forthcoming on Black Acre, and the killer A.K. remix of N-Types ridiculous “Darkmatter”

Mad EP takes over the reigns for Electronic Explorations for an insight into his own tastes and throws down a mix from his buddy Non Genetic.

Last time Mad EP was here (Show Number 34), he was promoting his “Bass.hed” album on Ad Noiseam and getting ready to play the festival circuit… 6 months later, Mad EP returns as a victorious gladiator: the original phalanxter aka the bass.hed buccaneer, and is now ready to unleash the next chapter on us all.

He has several releases in the pipeline: an album called “Twenty-four Breakbeats” on Acroplane in May, a 12? called “Antagony” on Noizetek for Spring/Summer… plus has signed to Dealmaker Records to release a full length album with the Shadow Huntaz.

If that weren’t enough, he has just joined the ranks as a DJ on Sub.FM, in the highly-coveted Monday midnight-2am slot, rotating with Starkey, Secret Agent Gel & Sines.

In his true grandiose fashion.. not only did Mad EP do a complete “take over” show (an Electronic Explorations first), but he did TWO, full 2-hour shows.. The first following the normal Electronic Explorations format of selecta style hosting, complete with lots of first-plays and dubplates. The second is a “rewind”, showcasing several of his DJ mixes you may not have heard before.

After a slight hiatus from Radio Magnetic (my fault!) we manage to catch up with Rob Booths phenomenal series, Electronic Explorations and hear some blistering mixes from Proa Tingz and Gunjack.

Propa Tingz

In this blistering 25 minute mix PropaTingz deals a swift smack pon side the head to genre rigidity and exposes some of the freshest cutting edge productions styles that are claiming center stage in the international Bass music scene.

Originally hailing from the UK PropaTingz made his way to San Francisco and has since emerged as one of the hottest names on the US Nu-school electronica scene.

Under his previous moniker as BreakBeatBuddha he helped forge the now lauded California Glitch Hop scene alongside artists such as the Glitch Mob, edit and Laser Sword. As Propa Tingz he is widely acknowledged as the pioneer of Glitch Step, a bad bwoy sound clash of Bay Area Hyphy, Dirty South Crunk, UK Bass and the cutting edge of Glitch.

Gunjack

Eccentric, nomadic, these are some of the nicer terms used to describe Brian Gibbs AKA Gunjack. One Canadian DJ spat: “Fuck him and his gypsy ways”. Whatever your experience with the prolific and mysterious GUNJACK, music speaks for itself and his speaks volumes on life experience.

Ben Sims calls him “Savage… A techno monster”, A Guy Called Gerald called Gibbs “The future of techno” back in 1996! Warp records golden boy Flying Lotus says: “I love his music” and ex Napalm Death Drummer Mick Harris AKA Scorn calls the music of Gunjack “Fucking punk”.

This week Rob is joined by “Marmite Steppers” 16bit is DRT and Kidnappa.

Their highly anticipated ‘In The Death Car EP’ is finally upon us, a three track triple a-side mammoth of a release hits the street in the form of a 12? vinyl plate, having been battered on dubplate by the likes of Rusko and Chef, and a huge buzz being created on the Dubstepforum and Youtube the time is now for 16Bit.

Rob Booth welcomes Warlock, one of the co-founders of breakstep/dubstep/electro label Rag & Bone, hitting you with a mix of some fine tunes.

Rag & Bone is co-run by long time DJ’s Warlock & Noyeahno.

Their love of electronic music started independently way back in the late eighties with the birth of acid house and the early rave scene. With both being involved with pirate radio and playing at parties far and wide, it was inevitable that their paths would cross and their desire to pull these influences together to release forward thinking music lead to the birth of Rag & bone.

Artists who have released on Rag & Bone include Aaron Spectre, Kanji Kinetic, King Cannibal, Blackmass Plastics, FZV, Drop the Lime and not forgetting Noyeahno & Warlock.

Warlock mixes the second half of this Electronic Explorations episode with the first half being presented by Rob Booth.

Rob celebrates 1 year of the Electronic Explorations show this week with a suitably brilliant dubstep mix from Bristolian, pioneer, Pinch for a present.

We’ve been following Rob closely since the summer and in August proudly added Electronic Explorations to our roster of shows. Since then Rob’s brought some amazing mixes to the station with the likes of Pangaea, Al Haca, Madd EP, Grievous Angel, Kowton, Elite Barbarian, The Third Man, The Teknoist, Starkey and Ebola. Not to mention his own unique presenting talent and impeccable tune selection. Happy Birthday Rob and long my Electronic Explorations continue!

Now onto this weeks guest. Most of you will recognise Pinch named next to his production buddy Peverelist but you should be hearing about these guys in their own right as well. Especially after the quality of this mix from Pinch, aka Rob Ellis. You can catch Rob heading up the Bristolian ‘dubstep meets minimal techno’ charge alongside the likes of Headhunter where producers have been mixing the two genres for a while now to devestating effect. We at Radio Magnetic are particularly fond of this strand of dubstep and very excited that Rob Explorations managed to get hold of Rob Pinch for this exclusive.

Well in Rob! Birthday drinks on us when you reach us north of the border.
