Another fine mix from the Slabs Of The Tabernacle squad on the run up to Saturday 6 March's instalment of their monthly underground party. Its Brian D'Souza's turn and jackin' house is the order of the day in this three deck aural feast.

Here’s another mix from the Slabs Of The Tabernacle squad on the run up to Saturday 6 March’s instalment of their monthly underground party. This month its Brian D’Souza’s turn to get you in the mood. Jacking house is the order of the day in this three deck aural feast.

The night return this month to Glasgow’s Le Cheetah basement with electro and ghetto bass head DJ Xed headlining. All the way from Croatia, Xed has stayed in touch with electro from his early days following artists such as Newcleus, Jonzun Crew, Man Parrish and World Class Wreckin’ Cru. Over the past twenty years his sets have included soul funk, hip hop, electro, Miami bass and ghetto house.

Through hooking up with fellow 808 fans he helped formed the Crobot Crew promoting true electro in Croatia and wider in the region through Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia.

These days their own parties see guests like Anthony Rother, Aux 88, Exzakt, The Advent, Bass Junkie, Boris Divider, Jackal & Hyde and DJ Godfather regularly wreck the floor. They have played gigs from Holland to Miami, and more recently they have released records on Puzzlebox, Twilight 76 and their own label Crobot Muzik.

Check out this here 3 deck house mix by Brian D’Souza. Recorded on Sony Reel to Reel Analogue Tape Recorder, march 2010.

Recorded at Macsorley’s Music Pub in early December last year, House Machine and Line Idle present two very distinct styles of dance music.

House Machine takes it back to the way we used to rock; raw drums, analogue synths and heavy bass. House Machine’s debut 12″ AC/ID is due out on Little Rock Records on the Friday 5 March.

Line Idle operates on a much higher level of technology – armed with with cosmic synths, high-powered tech and an ear for rich production, his live sets combine Detroit crispness with a pounding technoid edge. Line Idle’s latest single Tense is released on Glasgow’s AndNotOr Records at the start of April.

Both artists will be performing at the AC/ID launch party on Saturday 6 March in the Black Sparrow (8-12, Free entry) alongside OCD and Speedy (Inner City Acid).

The latest exclusive live session from The Kelburn Garden Party 2009 is from Edinburgh based, Gol. The band create a unique sound by crossing musical boundaries between East and West informed by jazz, world, pop and electronica.

They played the main stage on the Saturday of the festival and were another highlight of the magical festival back in June. Gol are Roxana Pope on Vocals (Persian & English), Pete Vilk (Drum kit & samples), Yann Seznec (Keyboards & live sampling), Allan Ferguson (Bass), Mat Clements (Percussion) and John Burgess (Saxophones, clarinet & guitar). Hope you enjoy the set.

Don’t forget about the Kelburn Viewpoint Session # 1 on Saturday 8 May 2010 with Radio Magnetic, Mungo’s Hi Fi, FOUND, Boom Monk Ben and Soom T to name a select handful of the acts on show there. Should be a good one.

Stuart quipped that his record collection was worth more than his house when he was in the studio…he wasn’t joking.

Here he plays out his favourite rare 1960s soul 45s from Detroit. Motown and some of the smaller independent labels of the motor city are the order of the day. Records which went on to have a new lease of life with the northern soul boom of Northern England in the 1970s.

Stuart’s been an avid going on obssessive collector of these soul 7″s for some time now and here he shares some of his talcum powder flavoured favourites.

The Hinterland multi-venue and multi-genre music festival is back for 2010. Taking over Glasgow for one day on Saturday 3 April from 5pm until 3am. Radio Magnetic are very pleased to announce that we’ll be hosting the Arches event as part of Hinterland which features Friendly Fires and Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard amongst some more treats and surprises including a Ballers Social Club showcase and The Greco Roman Soundsystem.

So far acts on the bill, over and above the unmissable Arches finale, include Jeffrey Lewis, Hot Club De Paris, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, British Sea Power, The Wave Pictures and Kitty The Lion.

Tickets are only £10 for early birds and this ticket allows access to all events, venues and gigs over the course of the Saturday. Sounds like a bargain to us.

Plus there’s a load more to be announced over the coming weeks including the full lowdown on acts and exactly which of the city’s venues are taking part. Watch this space for more info or check out the official Hinterland website.

Here's an exclusive mix from one quarter of the Slabs Of The Tabernacle resident team, Jwins, on the run up to the forthcoming Slabs party in Glasgow with Intergalactic Gary.

Here’s an exclusive mix from one quarter of the Slabs Of The Tabernacle resident team, Jwins, on the run up to the forthcoming Slabs party in Glasgow with Intergalactic Gary. Saturday 6 February at Le Cheetah.

If the last Slabs Of The Tabernacle, their sell out NYE party at the same venue, was anything to go by this one should not be missed. Get on down there.

“To start 2010 off we have invited the ever-entertaining Intergalactic Gary to the Tabernacle. I-G has had over 20 years experience of DJing at the acid squat parties, clubs and pirate radio stations of the Hague as well as elsewhere across the world.

We welcome him to what is now a long overdue return to Glasgow. He will be playing his shifting set of acid house, italo, disco, new wave, synth obscurities and classic techno over three hours. Another meaty slabs party as we return to the basement.”

Slabs: Jan 2010

Saturday 6 February at Le Cheetah in Glasgow is the place to be and entry’s a very reasonable £7.
