With the Electric Frog Carnival tickets now on sale, we take a look at the headline acts. Saturday 23 April and Sunday 24 April are the dates for your diaries. Don't miss out.

The Radio Magnetic blog brings you the latest gig, festival and music news from throughout the UK and worldwide.

With Easter almost upon us again, our thoughts are firmly on The Electric Frog. Now in its third year, the Glasgow mini festival has been attracting big names and even bigger crowds to its doors at SWG3 in Yorkhill since 2009. With this years line up set to blow the roof of the West End warehouse for a third time, we take a look at the headliners who you would be plain silly to miss.

Saturday’s lineup looks set to please the disco enthusiasts and genre-bending dance fans, with names such as Erol Alkan, Ivan Smagghe and everyone’s favourite Glaswegian duo after Colin and Justin, Optimo. Erol Alkan needs very little introduction. The accomplished party DJ has been on remix duty for more than a few big names over the last five years, having reworked tracks by the likes of Daft Punk, The Chemical Brothers and Digitalism. Any fans will know that his appearances at the Arches of recent years have been harder to get a ticket to than Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. DJ Yoda, the hip hop turntablist whose use of samples helps create an almost cartoonish musical style is also on the list of those performing on the day. The legandary Francois Kervorkian is a veteran DJ, producer and record label boss and will be bringing some New York vibes to Yorkhill along with friend, DJ and vinyl junkie Danny Krivit. Both men are institutions in their own right and have been playing the hottest clubs in NY for almost 40 years. Krivit has played alongside big names such as Larry Levan and David Mancuso holding down residencies in legendary clubs like The Loft in NY. The Unabombers are the masterminds behind Manchester’s legendary club night, the Electric Chair, which ran for almost 15 years. Needless to say these guys know how to work a crowd with their unique mix of house, disco, funk and whatever else takes their fancy; so expect great things. Bona fide Glasgow fave, the Parisian born Ivan Smagghe also appears on Saturday. Melting Pot (who celebrate their tenth birthday this year) residents Andrew Pirie and Simon Cordiner will be representing the Glasgow disco movement along with the Thunder Disco Club guys.

Sundays line up will appeal to techno heads and dubsteppers alike with a killer line up showcasing some of the biggest names the UK and America has to offer. When it comes to techno, few DJs or producers can claim to have a CV as impressive as Green Velvet, Dave Clarke or Ben Klock. All three are at the top of their game, top of the food chain, and top of the bill for Easter Sunday. Glasgow techno legends Slam will be taking a break from running Soma Records (who celebrate their 20th birthday this year) to play tunes on the day and, based on their dominance of Glasgow’s techno scene for the past two decades, that’s no bad thing. Copious amounts of bass will be available courtesy of badman DJ and Hyperdub head honcho Kode 9, and an appearance from UK garage legend Todd Edwards is not to be missed. L-vis 1990 is one half of London’s Night Slugs label and club night. The Night Slugs imprint has dominated the UK bass scene in 2010 and 2011, releasing some of the biggest EPs of the year and having a roster that has promoters all over the country salivating over. Glasgow dubstep champions the Electric Eliminators will also be in attendance representing the homegrown Sunday talent along with the Animal Farm lads.

Tim Goldsworthy and Tim Sweeney, two of the most influential taste-makers on the planet joined forces at The Electric Frog Street Carnival on Sunday 30 August.

This mix and feature is dedicated to the memory and memories of Jerry Fuchs, who died tragically, on Saturday 7 November 2009, aged 34. Jerry was the drummer with two of the most outstanding live outfits I have ever witnessed, !!! and The Juan MaClean; and he also performed live occassionally with LCD Soundsystem. Glasgow DJ, Courier of Death label boss and DFA ally, Teamy, a friend an massive fan of Jerry’s said today, “you know, it’s sort of cliché to say but he was geninuely one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. Incredibly saddening.”

RIP – Jerry Fuchs

The street carnival, which also featured performances from Stacey Pullen, Theo Parrish, Al Kent, Rahaan, Den Haan, Floating Points, Numbers and Optimo, welcomed the two Tims to DJ for the attendant disco-heads and clubbers at the SWG3 venue in Glasgow’s West End. Here’s a live recording of their DJ set for your enjoyment. These two don’t really need an introduction but here’s one anyway…

Tim Goldsworthy is a British record producer, DJ and recording artist, has lived and worked in New York and is now back on home turf. Originally a musician/producer for UNKLE, and joint owner of DFA Records. In SEP 2001, Goldsworthy co-founded James Lavelle?s Mo? Wax label. He later worked with James Murphy, being part of LCD Soundsystem. Trademark production work and a series of low-key releases on their own DFA label in 2002 gained them a steadily developed word-of-mouth fan base.

Tim Goldsworthy is a British record producer, DJ and recording artist, has lived and worked in New York and is now back on home turf and based in Bristol. Originally a musician and producer with UNKLE he currently runs DFA Records with partner in crime, James Murphy. Alongside James Lavelle, Goldsworthy set-up, one-time home to DJ Shadow and DJ Krush, Mo’ Wax Records back in 2001. He works with Murphy as a integral part of LCD Soundsystem and helps produce the myriad DFA remixes which prolifically hit the turntables of the most respected DJs on the planet and homes of the most devoted and discerning music fans on the planet.

Tim Sweeney is a rather talented and well mannered DJ and the proprieter of underground electronic mix haven, Beats In Space. He holds a residency at New York’s APT club and is in demand all over New York City and far further afield due to his unique style, bringing together all sorts from old school hip-hop to techno and disco. Rarities, re-edits and remixes as well as the finest current and contemporary sounds the man hears. His above mentioned website might be the best thing on the internet. Full stop.

The Electric Frog Street Carnival on Sunday 30th August is shaping up to be one helluva party.

The Electric Frog Street Carnival? As soon as we heard the name of this event going down on bank holiday Sunday at the end of August we were eager to find out more. We weren’t disappointed when we did.

Not only does it have the best name for a carnival we’ve ever heard but the line-up is quite astonishing. With some of the most exciting new names in dance music rubbing shoulders with a smattering of true greats we basically cannae wait. Gracing Glasgow with their presence at the end of the month will be Detroit legends, Stacey Pullen and Theo Parrish, DFA boss Tim Goldsworthy, Optimo’s Twitch and Wilkes and Beats in Space’s Tim Sweeney and that’s just for starters…

Glasgow Italo boys, Den Haan, Numbers’ Jackmaster and Spencer, Al Kent, Floating Points and two of house music unsung heroes in the shape of Rahaan and Roska will all appear at the carnival over the course of the day. The event will be split over two stages with one in the street outside the infamous SWG3 venue and the other inside The Warehouse gallery.

Adding to the carnival vibe, there’s going to be indoor and outdoor drinking areas, great gourmet food including the jerk chicken bar, an 80-foot graffiti commission and street interventions throughout the site.

The whole she-bang is being brought to you by the lovely tastemakers at Liquid Events, Optimo Music, Numbers and the SWG3 arts venue collectively. It’s on from 2pm ’til 11pm with an after-party at Pivo Pivo on Waterloo St from 11pm ’til late.

For more info on what should be the perfect party to wave goodbye to the glorious summer we’ve had check out:
