On the first Tuesday of every month, We Sink Ships will feature something they love – it might be a band, a label, an artist, a gallery or a venue – then Neil will play out with 45 minutes of electro-disco-wonk-pop.

The following Tuesday each month, We Sink Ships will invite a guest DJ to record a set which will be preceded by an introduction to the guest.

On the 3rd Tuesday of the month, Heidi will take her turn to play some music but not before they’ve discussed a monthly Nick-Hornby-esque top 5.

Finishing off the month, the 4th show will be something a little different; with the return of Neil’s record label, We Sink Ships are presenting the Too Many Fireworks podcast, featuring music from the label, past and present, plus Neil’s latest ambient, minimalist or alternative-classical finds.

We continue our feature of Erased Tapes records this month with the label’s neo-classical composer, Ólafur Arnalds. Neil talked to Óli on the phone last week and asked him about his career so far, his influences and his future plans. After that, Óli offered up his own personal “beginners guide” to classical music featuring his major influences and pieces he thought you should hear. Podcast 2 of episode 3 is our first fully-recorded episode on Skype, which was…er… an experience. We’re both very excited about this week’s show and we hope you enjoy it.

Orbit is back again bringing you the finest new music this planet has to offer. Fresh offerings this week coming from the likes of Flying Lotus, Broken Social Scene and Foals. This weeks episode is named after Jupiters smallest moon Leda.

In Greek mythology, Leda was the daughter of the Aetolian king Thestius and wife of Tyndareus, king of Sparta. As you may have guessed by now Zeus fancied her. I mean who didn’t he want a piece of ? As always Zeus had a cunning plan to seduce her. Turning himself into a swan, he fell into her arms for protection from a pursuing eagle. Later that night, as Leda lay with her husband, Zeus cosummated their relationship.

If all this bird based beastiality is starting to get to you, fear not as we’ve also got a stack of brand new tunes for your listening pleasure. Whether it be the ambient dubstep of Ginz and Kool Money Kwame or the Scottish indie delights of We Were Promised Jetpacks you’ll find something to entice you into our Orbit.

To buy a selection of music from this week’s Orbit and some of Matthew Sweeney’s musical recommendations visit the Orbit MP3 shop.

This month its Brian D’Souza’s turn to get you in the mood. Jacking house is the order of the day in this three deck aural feast.

The night return this month to Glasgow’s Le Cheetah basement with electro and ghetto bass head DJ Xed headlining. All the way from Croatia, Xed has stayed in touch with electro from his early days following artists such as Newcleus, Jonzun Crew, Man Parrish and World Class Wreckin’ Cru. Over the past twenty years his sets have included soul funk, hip hop, electro, Miami bass and ghetto house.

Through hooking up with fellow 808 fans he helped formed the Crobot Crew promoting true electro in Croatia and wider in the region through Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia.

These days their own parties see guests like Anthony Rother, Aux 88, Exzakt, The Advent, Bass Junkie, Boris Divider, Jackal & Hyde and DJ Godfather regularly wreck the floor. They have played gigs from Holland to Miami, and more recently they have released records on Puzzlebox, Twilight 76 and their own label Crobot Muzik.

Check out this here 3 deck house mix by Brian D’Souza. Recorded on Sony Reel to Reel Analogue Tape Recorder, march 2010.

Acid House! Acid Techno! Acid Booty Bass! Line Idle supplies an eclectic selection of retro technological beats and ubiquitous 303 squelch.

The eagerly-awaited blast of acid mayhem gets delivered courtesy of Line Idle; Team Little Rock briefly fall silent in awe. In anticipation of their much-discussed vinyl launch, Team Little Rock demonstrate why that oscillating 303 can really turn your spine into a bassline, with a selection of Line Idle’s finest vinyl. It’s a tight, heavy beast of mix that at once pulverises and delicately caresses the eardrums.

Team Little Rock, House Machine, Line Idle, Speedy, OCD. The Black Sparrow, March 06 2010. Free entry.
