Director with UK claymation specialists Aardman, Peter Peake, talks to aspiring animator, and former 4Talent Award-winner Katy Davis about their art and how to get ahead in the industry.

The second episode of the 4Talent Head to Head podcast is all about animation. Director Peter Peake has worked with Aardman since he graduated from art college. His productions include TV adverts and website campaigns, computer-generated educational tools and contributions to feature films like The Were Rabbit and Chicken Run.

Katy Davis is an aspiring animator who combines illustration, photography, live video footage and After Effects and works mostly on music videos.

Both animators discuss their working practices, swap tips and techniques, compare working alone to being part of a large studio and ponder what to do when artists block happens.

4Talent’s Head to Head series lets you eavesdrop on peer-to-peer chats between big-name talents and their up-and-coming counterparts. Expect to hear anecdotes, advice, adventures and analysis from a diverse pool of inspiring and aspiring people: an exclusive glimpse into the creative process.

In episode one Mr. Holy Moly, the man behind the salacious gossip website HolyMoly talks to aspiring blogger Stephanie Prentice, who is currently traveling the world as part of a marketing initiative for Smirnoff. We hear how the increasingly popular gossip website began on a secret laptop under a news desk at work, debate the ethics of gossip writing and consider competition, compromise and censorship.
