For the most part this show is upbeat with choice new tracks from emerging electronic acts we think are well worth keeping an eye on, such as Kingbastard and DataLine. Enough raucous music to keep ghosts at bay.

Dougal’s new year’s resolution, at least the one he actually intends to stick to, involves a new format for his Magnetism show.

Incorporating clips from TV, radio, soundtracks and other media from the archives, all with some personal connection, the new show style also includes spoken word, private confessions, anonymous messages and an eclectic selection of new music, with a couple of classics sneaking in there somewhere too. This episode feature’s a few word’s from Dougal’s canine namesake and an extract from his all time favourite radio series too.

A dark and moody vibe underlays this episode of Magnetism. Must be something to do with disturbances in the earth’s magnetic field now that winter is closing in. That or the fact that it’s ruddy bloody cold outside. Nonetheless, Dougal is in a buoyant mood following Kinky Afro’s Ninth Birthday last Friday.

A mostly electronic theme, fitting in the light of the venerable Sub Club Friday night’s recent anniversary, runs throughout this show. Alongside upfront and recent tracks, several cheeky retro numbers have slipped in there to evoke nostalgia.

A somewhat moody show, Dougal wanders through the years and styles like a lost magician’s apprentice looking for inspiration.

Kicking off with some ethereal wistfulness, this show gets grumpy, flippant, crunchy, funky, raunchy and then wistful again and ends on a poignant note of amorous beauty.

Not sure what got into him, must be the late, dark nights of autumn.

Back once again, it’s the unshredable… From out behind the scene steps a dark stranger… No, it’s not the Wizard of Oz, it’s ruddy, bloody Dougal Perman, Radio Magnetic head chef.

Dougal used to present a weekly show called Magnetism until we switched focus from live broadcast to on demand in early 2006. But now he’s bringing the old show back in a new guise.

The first tune on the playlist inspired Dougal to start the show up again while working late one evening in the Inner Ear office. So, he gathered up his tracks and set up next door in the Radio Magnetic studio ready to attract your ears once more.
