The night return this month to Glasgow’s Le Cheetah basement with electro and ghetto bass head DJ Xed headlining. All the way from Croatia, Xed has stayed in touch with electro from his early days following artists such as Newcleus, Jonzun Crew, Man Parrish and World Class Wreckin’ Cru. Over the past twenty years his sets have included soul funk, hip hop, electro, Miami bass and ghetto house.

Through hooking up with fellow 808 fans he helped formed the Crobot Crew promoting true electro in Croatia and wider in the region through Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia.

These days their own parties see guests like Anthony Rother, Aux 88, Exzakt, The Advent, Bass Junkie, Boris Divider, Jackal & Hyde and DJ Godfather regularly wreck the floor. They have played gigs from Holland to Miami, and more recently they have released records on Puzzlebox, Twilight 76 and their own label Crobot Muzik.

Now on their fifth night, Slabs of the Tabernacle have already hosted Scottish debuts for a number of artists such as the Third Man (ai Records) and UK italo pioneer Casionova (Magic Waves / Dissident).

Next up is Rotterdam’s Mark du Mosch (Moustache Records). Armed with a bag of his finest records, a ‘tache spectacular awaits! Championed by the likes of fellow Dutchman, I-F, Mark Du Mosch makes music that is not of this earth, melodies that sound like they were crafted on the moon, layered with deep spacey synth swooshes that will illuminate any dancefloor. Since 2006’s Let it Go he has only released a handful of records but they have all been of the highest calibre. Space helmets at the ready then, for a DJ set that will explore the realms of disco, italo, house, techno and beyond.

Bumped into Robocop in town a couple of years ago and he was buzzin about having a night off, dancing like a loony and raving on about some mix he’d just made.

After following the beast into Destiny we managed to get some sense out of him before giving it the robot on a podium till 3 in the morning. After the doors closed we went home for a baby food kebab and some chips while Robocop produced a mix on one of those futuristic (for the 80’s) mini CD’s from the back of his head and said we could use it on the show.

What a legend!
