DJ Zagueiro is joined by musician, musicologist and founder of Culture Crossroads, Caspar James for a tour through the music and traditions of the Caribbean. With music, performances and field-recordings garnered during two recent trips to the region and from Caspar’s extensive music collection the show focuses on some of the unique musical traditions of this region.

Culture Crossroads facilitates genuine cultural experiences in an entertaining and educational way, using the vibrant song, story, music and dance traditions of the Americas to tell the stories of the creole communities that created them. Our current focus is on the Caribbean region.

These traditions provide a model of inter-cultural understanding because they are the results of centuries of contact, conflict and collaboration between African, European, Amerindian and Asian ethnic groups. Our aim is to present Caribbean traditions as powerfully and as authentically as possible here in the UK.
