A high energy folk group featuring members from Scotland, Ireland, Cape Bretton and California, Dàimh are strongly rooted in traditonal Scottish music, while exploring the connections between the members’ countries. Armagh based Buille (pictured) blend traditional Irish tunes with expansive arrangements and influeces from jazz and classical music. This Tune Up tour brings together the two bands in a series of shows that are set to be both fiery and beautiful.

The Red Note Ensemble, directed by John Harris and Robert Irvine, is a newly-formed professional music ensemble, dedicated to contemporary music. The next Tune Up Tour of 2010 sees world renowned fiddler Aidan O’Rourke and his band appear alongside the Dave Milligan Trio in a celebration of ten years of The An Tobar arts centre in Tobermory.

Both these acts have been commisioned to composer pieces of new music centred around Tobermory and the island of Mull and this tour will see them perform their commissions as well as collaborate together on each of the dates.

The renowned jazz trumpeter Ryan Quigley alongside Justin Currie are by the cream of Scottish jazz talent as Ryan takes his Big Band on the road for this very special Tune Up tour. Following a sell out concert at Glasgow International Jazz Festival‘s Homegrown Showcase in 2009, the Big Band is set to raise the bar with a show that will include several Del Amitri songs, as well as new material from Quigley’s acclaimed debut album Laphroaig-ian Slip.

The arrangements, written by Quigley, are tailored to suit Currie’s delivery, pushing the singer in a jazzier direction without losing his own distinctive style.

A turbo-charged 13-piece supergroup, Treacherous Orchestra are at the cutting edge of Scotland’s ongoing folk revival, combining strong traditional roots with an eclectic range of contemporary influences.

Featuring pipes, accordian, fiddles, whistles, flutes, electric guitar, banjo, bass, drums and percussion, Treacherous Orchestra’s powerful rhythms draw upon modern rock, jazz and funk, as well as traditional marches and reels, while their inspired arrangements blend jazz, klezmer and rock flavours with Celtic elements.

The Graeme Stephen Septet features some of the most creative and in demand musicans on the UK folk and jazz scenes. The music draws on all these influences creating an eclectic mix of styles from folk, jazz and classical.

The performance will include the suite Vantage-Points, inspired by locations throughout Scotland.

The group is Graeme Stephen – Guitar, Ben Davis ( of mercury nominees Basquiat Strings) – Cello, Chris Stout- Violin, Phil Bancroft – Saxophone, Fraser Fifield- Soprano Sax/Kaval,  ( on the dates 1st march to 7th March) Martin Kershaw - Alto Sax ( On the dates 25th – 27th March), Mario Caribe – Double Bass, and Scottish Jazz Drummer of the year Stuart Ritchie.

Graeme Stephen has been described as one of the most creative musicians in the UK  and has won various awards including the Jazz Services Promoters Choice Award and was chosen for the Serious/PRS  Take 5 initiative in 2008.
