<p>In this podcast we chat to Jon Boden from Spiers &amp; Boden and Douglas Montgomery from Saltfishforty about the forthcoming tour, the respective band&#8217;s relationship and their complimentary styles and outlook.</p>
<p>The tour kicks off on <strong>Thursday 1 July</strong> at <strong>The Tolbooth</strong> in Stirling.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h4><img class="aligncenter" title="Daimh and Buille" src="/images/shows/tune_up/buille_450.jpg" alt="buille 450" width="450" height="300" />The next Tune Up Tour of 2010 plays host to two of Scotland and Northern Ireland&#8217;s most exciting young bands, Daimh and Buille. Their tour starts on Friday 11 June at An Lanntair in Stornoway. In this episode we chat to Ross Martin from Daimh and Caoimhín Vallely from Buille about their music, the tour and their plans for collaboration.</h4>
<p>A high energy folk group featuring members from Scotland, Ireland, Cape Bretton and California, <strong>Dàimh</strong> are strongly rooted in traditonal Scottish music, while exploring the connections between the members&#8217; countries. Armagh based <strong>Buille</strong> (pictured) blend traditional Irish tunes with expansive arrangements and influeces from jazz and classical music. This Tune Up tour brings together the two bands in a series of shows that are set to be both fiery and beautiful.</p>

The next Tune Up Tour of 2010 sees contemporary music ensemble, the Red Note Ensemble&#8217;s reinterpretation of the classic modernist poem, A Drunk Man Looks At The Thistle by Hugh MacDiarmid. The tour kicked off on Thursday 3 June at The Tolbooth in Stirling.</h4>
<p>The Red Note Ensemble, directed by John Harris and Robert Irvine, is a newly-formed professional music ensemble, dedicated to contemporary music. In this podcast we chat to <strong>John Harris</strong> as well as the conductor <strong>Jessica Cottis</strong> and narrator, <strong>Crawford Logan</strong> about the music involved, the original poem and the forthcoming tour.</p>

		<description><![CDATA[Composer and fiddler Patsy Reid's Bridging The Gap is next in line for this year's season of Tune Up Tours across Scotland. We caught up with Patsy for a chat about her music and the tour ahead.]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h4><img class="aligncenter" title="Patsy Reid" src="/images/shows/tune_up/patsyreid_450.jpg" alt="patsyreid 450" width="450" height="300" />Patsy Reid&#8217;s Bridging The Gap is next in line for this year&#8217;s season of Tune Up Tours across Scotland. Composer and fiddler Patsy was commissioned to compose the piece by Celtic Connections back in 2008, and now she finally gets a chance to tour the material, joined onstage by Greg Lawson, Natalie Haas, Mairi Campbell, Michael Bryan, Mhairi Hall, Peter Tickell, Duncan Lyall and Iain Copeland.</h4>
<p>We caught up with Patsy, who is also a member of the forward thinking folk outfit <strong>Breabach</strong>, for a chat about the commission and the forthcoming tour, in which she&#8217;ll be marrying her love of classical music with traditional and folk elements.</p>

With support from the Finnish folk outfit Kiila. Kiila are a great example of the exciting new wave of music coming out of Finland in recent years, typified by the output of the label Fonal.</h4>
<p>Favourites of Drag City Records prolific, indie-folk artist Alasdair Roberts the tour sees a collaboration between his band and Kiila and it promises to be something quite special.</p>
<p>Here we chat to Alasdair about the tour, the band accompanying him and the music to expect as well as his fondness of the Fins.</p>

We catch up with John Somerville from the Treacherous Orchestra for a chat about the forthcoming Tune Up Tour. Here John chats about what the band have been up to recently and what to expect from the Orchestra&#8217;s live performances.</h4>
<p>A turbo-charged 13-piece supergroup, <strong>Treacherous Orchestra</strong> are at the cutting edge of Scotland&#8217;s ongoing folk revival, combining strong traditional roots with an eclectic range of contemporary influences.</p>
<p>Featuring pipes, accordian, fiddles, whistles, flutes, electric guitar, banjo, bass, drums and percussion, Treacherous Orchestra&#8217;s powerful rhythms draw upon modern rock, jazz and funk, as well as traditional marches and reels, while their inspired arrangements blend jazz, klezmer and rock flavours with Celtic elements.</p>

<h4>The Graeme Stephen Septet features some of the most creative and in demand musicans on the UK folk and jazz scenes. The music draws on all these influences creating an eclectic mix of styles from folk, jazz and classical.</h4>
<p>The performance will include the suite <strong>Vantage-Points</strong>, inspired by locations throughout Scotland.</p>
<p>The group is <strong>Graeme Stephen </strong>– Guitar, <strong>Ben Davis</strong> ( of mercury nominees <strong>Basquiat Strings</strong>) &#8211; Cello, <strong>Chris Stout</strong>- Violin, Phil Bancroft – Saxophone, <strong>Fraser Fifield</strong>- Soprano Sax/Kaval,  ( on the dates 1st march to 7th March) <strong>Martin Kershaw </strong>- Alto Sax ( On the dates 25th – 27th March), <strong>Mario Caribe</strong> &#8211; Double Bass, and Scottish Jazz Drummer of the year <strong>Stuart Ritchie</strong>.<strong></strong></p>
<p><strong>Graeme Stephen</strong> has been described as one of the most creative musicians in the UK  and has won various awards including the Jazz Services Promoters Choice Award and was chosen for the Serious/PRS  Take 5 initiative in 2008.</p>
