Its a farewell from our friends at We Sink Ships but dread nought, a Too Many Fireowrks podcast series will continue as will ad hoc shows and features from the WSS squad.

Dear readers and listeners,

It’s been a full seven months since we began the We Sink Ships radio show on Radio Magnetic and we’ve had an absolute ball producing it and presenting it and all that that has given us.

We’ve made some firm friends, talked to some heros and we’ve entertained along the way – we hope.

Unfortunately, the time has come for us to go our separate ways and with that, last week’s podcast will be We Sink Ships’ last.

Starting from the beginning of August, in its place, will be Neil’s monthly “too many fireworks” podcast. His record label has now been slated for relaunch on Monday 30 August and each month Neil will be bringing you a podcast featuring the usual mix of ambient, modern-classical and post-rock music but will be adding to this with extra shows from members of the label’s extended family – whenever it suits him.

As We Sink Ships, we may occasionally reunite to do the odd ad-hoc podcast if we feel there’s something we want to rave about but until then, this is it.

We hope that if you’ve enjoyed what we’ve done in the last 7 months, you might make your way to Edinburgh on Saturday night to our Edinburgh Arts Festival show where we’ll be premiering our short film of We Sink Ships: Elements. It’s on at the Wee Red Bar and starts at 7pm.

From both of us, thank you so much for listening!

This week on WSS, we've got an excellent indie mix from Heidi's featuring Wild Dogs in Winter, Midlake, The Flaming Lips and There Will Be Fireworks.

Due to dramatic allergy issues, this week, Neil introduces Heidi’s excellent mix featuring Wild Dogs in Winter, Midlake, The Flaming Lips and There Will Be Fireworks. It’s great. So listen up.

We Sink Ships is a collaboration featuring Heidi Kuisma, a Finnish born, Glasgow based photographer and Neil Milton, a Scottish born photographer, musician and record label owner living in Warsaw, Poland.

Together they create and curate online photo exhibitions and present weekly podcasts hosted on Radio Magnetic. On the first Tuesday of every month, We Sink Ships will feature something they love – it might be a band, a label, an artist, a gallery or a venue – then Neil will play out with 45 minutes of electro-disco-wonk-pop.

The following Tuesday each month, We Sink Ships will invite a guest DJ to record a set which will be preceded by an introduction to the guest. On the 3rd Tuesday of the month, Heidi will take her turn to play some music but not before they’ve discussed a monthly Nick-Hornby-esque top 5.

Finishing off the month, the 4th show will be something a little different; with the return of Neil’s record label, We Sink Ships are presenting the Too Many Fireworks podcast, featuring music from the label, past and present, plus Neil’s latest ambient, minimalist or alternative-classical finds.

This week, We Sink Ships invite a very good friend, Euan McMeeken of the Kays Lavelle, to provide us with some music. Before that, Euan takes a stroll down Ashton Lane in Glasgow and tells a little about himself. We all hope you enjoy it.
