This month Mr Teamy won’t be joining us at Wrong Island due to his London Adventure going very well indeed. Filling the rather sizable gap left by him (and we don’t just mean his tummy) will be none other than ALEKS ‘DA SYNTH GURU’ JURCZYK.

Aleks works at the infamous and wonderful RUBADUB record store here in Glasgow. Aleks knows his oscillators from his envelopes and his Detroit from his Chicago. Just ask the big man anything tech and watch as his body glows, his eyes pulse waveforms and electricity bolts from his fingers in sheer delight and excitement. The only time you are likely to see this man grin wider is if Frank Bruno were to stroll into the shop and buy a pair of Sennheiser HD25 headphones. As if.

Aleks and Teamy make music together as Wrong Island. As well as their own tracks they have remixed artists such as Hot Chip, KT Tunstall, Sons And Daughters and M.O.O.N. They be boss. Check out soundcloud.com/wrongisland if you don’t believe us.

Aleks will be dusting off and whipping out his delightful 12″s for all you lucky Islanders this month. This is a pretty rare spectacle and something we think you would be a fool to miss. Larry will be assisting every step of the way.

Friday 17 February and Friday 16 March sees new Wrong party, All Night Wrong with Al & Felix from Hot Chip it’s at The Baby Bathhouse, Stoke Newington Church Street. Costs £5 and is on from 10PM – 3AM.

Then on Friday 9 March it’s the New Build album launch with 2 Bears, Domenik Eulberg & Hannah Holland at the Corsica Studios, between 8PM – 4AM.

The latest edition of the Wrong Island podcast comes from Teamy, recently decamped to London, yet still popping up to Glasgow monthly to do the residency at Nice & Sleazy. Catch him there with DJ partner, Dirty Larry, on Saturday 10 December.

Normally better known for being the ‘disco’ side of the Wrong Island partnership, this mix shows off Teamy’s equally deep love of house, techno and the numerous (pointless?) sub-genres.

Howdy everyone and welcome to the latest Wrong Island podcast. We’re very happy and quite proud to say that the next Wrong Island at Nice & Sleazy’s is our Fourth Birthday. When we started the club up waaaaaaay back in 2007 (how long before there’s a 2007 nostalgia night?) we weren’t really trying to achieve anything special, we were just happy to have somewhere where we could inflict our record collections on people every month.

In those four years however, we’ve done quite a lot to be proud of: we brought a host of people to Glasgow for the first time: Ramadanman, Xaver Naudascher, Andy Blake and King of Town to mention a few, we got props from all over whilst not really shouting from the rooftops ourselves, we kept the club almost completely vinyl (the odd CD here and there) and got some remixes under our belt too – soundcloud.com/wrongisland

Most of all we made lots of new friends and had a lot of fun times. Last month was no exception (in fact I think it was the most fun one in a while). So finally, we’ve got another recording live from the club. This one is roughly an hour and a half from the start when the doors opened.

Keep an ear open for the remixes of Sons & Daughters and KT Tunstall which Teamy recently did with our compadre Aleks Jurczyk too.

This month’s mix is dedicated to John & Jules and Pat & Roxanne. Congrats on the weddings! Wish I could have split myself in two and been at both…

Hello and welcome to the latest installment of the Wrong Island podcast. This one’s all from me, Teamy. It’s an odds and sods mix of things I found lying about the bottom of my record shelves: i.e. records I haven’t played in a while or records which I deliberately hid so that I wouldn’t play them due to having been mainstays for too long!

As such it has jazz, poetry, disco and The Fall; it’s maybe a bit rough around the edges but I think it works nicely. Life’s a bit rough around the edges and that’s good enough for me (to paraphrase John Peel).

Larry recently did a belter of a mix, which you’ll find here on the Wrong Island blog. And, he’ll have another exclusive one for the lovely listeners at Radio Magnetic soon too!

And, some pretty big news from the Wrong Island HQ too. Teamy is all set to play at the aftershow of none other than LCD Soundsystem’s LAST EVER SHOW at Webster Hall in NYC Saturday 2 April with 2manyDJs and special DFA guests!

The next Glasgow Wrong Island is on Saturday 9 April with a pre-club at the CCA from 9pm.

Dear Radio Magnetic,

Well HE-LLO there, you handsome stranger, you! Welcome to this month’s Wrong Island podcast. There’s a lot happening on the Island this month:

Yes, yes, yes: it’s late again. Well I had worked on the recording from last month’s Wrong Island for a good while, tyring to find an hour’s worth where there wasn’t some sort of audio problem; or editing it together to miss bits out…

We had a bit of an issue with volume last month and it’s sorely affected the recording and whilst I’m with John Peel when it comes to the issue of surface noise, pops/crackles/distortion are A Bad Thing.

Add this to a little bit of a technical hitch with the recording and you can understand why there was a lack of Wrongness in yr life, we’ll make up for it by posting up a second podcast later this month.

In the meantime, here’s the first 80 mins of May’s Wrong Island, recorded live in Nice&Sleazy. It’s the music we play in the club as it’s filling up so expect something a bit more downtempo.

This month’s recording is dedicated to Keith McIvor and Jonnie Wilkes, without whom Glasgow might be a very different place. Thanks for 12 and a half years of loving our ears.

“This month Mr. Larry turned another year old so as a present Teamy’s let him do the whole podcast himself (well apart from one wee tune right at the start.) It would have been bloody an hour and a half and ended with Larry Larr’s ‘Larry, that’s what they call me.’ and the crowd singing Happy Birthday but something happened to the recording and it’s no there. BAH!

This month’s podcast is dedicated to all the people at Wrong Island who cheered at the appropiate points and sang happy birthday and to Nick Giudici for being the cause of the recording failure. We love you Nick, you sexy wee tramp! “Thanks for coming. Thanks for coming.” etc, etc”
