Channel 4 House Party

The Radio Magnetic blog brings you the latest videos, clubs, festivals and music news from throughout the UK and worldwide.

In a special one-off night of programming, Channel 4 will be celebrating dance music culture with an all night takeover, this Friday.

Beginning at 10pm on Friday, the takeover kicks off with a documentary, How Clubbing Changed The World. Hosted by Idris Elba, better known for his acting roles in The Wire and Luther, the film explores the underground clubbing scenes development into the multi-billion pound industry it is today, featuring the likes of Armand Van Helden, Skream and Pete Tong.

Then at midnight, the channel will be taken over by DJ’s Annie Mac, Erick Morillo, A-Trak, Grandmaster Flash, Soul II Soul and Horse Meat Disco in a unique, uninterrupted, 6 hour live broadcast, accompanied by Charlie Sloth on microphone duties, and VJ’s Hexstatic, Weirdcore, Blinkinlab, Aszyk and Jack Featherstone.

The event, commissioned by Art’s Commissioner Tabitha Jackson, is part of the London 2012 Festival, and embraces the channels approach to broadcasting, continuing to push the boundaries of conventional programming.

2012 is also the perfect summer for this television event. The weather has been rubbish and money is tight. There’s never been a better time for us to throw the ultimate house-party bring an awesome line up of talent directly into your living room for free. All you have to worry about is making sure you have enough friends and big speakers – Tabitha Jackson – Channel 4 Website.
