One half of French duo Blackstrobe, Ivan Smagghe was one of the highlights from Soma’s curration of Connect Festival’s Unknown Pleasures Tent
Smagghe layed down his signature brand of electro and techno to a crowd that was already jumping from some fantastic sets by Decimal, Radioslave and Mr Copy. Should be fair game to keep things moving? Well this can be tough for any DJ but Smagghe found the balance and rocked the tent.
Those of you who have heard the name before will recognise him as one half of electroclash instigators Blackstrobe but since 2006 Ivan has gone solo to concentrate on his DJ and production work as well as manage his own imprint label Set.
Since leaving Blackstrobe it seams Ivan has gone on a more techno orientated route which is a good thing in our books as this mix shows.

Awesome round of sets in this last newsletter. Started with this one. Aaaaggghhh… would have loved to have been there. Killer stuff. I recognize quite a few tunes in this, but not quite enough to do a whole tracklist.
