The Futureheads formed in 2000 in Sunderland. After a few changes the current line-up is Barry Hyde (guitars and vocals), Jaff (bass), Dave Hyde (drums), Ross Millard (guitars and vocals). Combining the best elements of new wave, post-punk and pop they exploded onto the scene in 2004 along with the likes of Franz Ferdinand and Bloc Party.
Their self-titled first album was released that same year which saw the four lads from North East England supporting Franz Ferdinand on their US tour. Life on the road was set to be a feature for the following year with more dates supporting Foo Fighters, Oasis and The Pixies. The Futureheads second album, ‘News and Tributes’ showcased an advanced, glossier sound featuring some really skilful songwriting.
May 2008 saw the band release their third album, ‘This Is Not The World’ on their own Nul Records label. True to their post punk ethos The Futureheads really come alive on stage. We caught up with front man Barry Hyde before he was about to embark on another round of live gigs in the UK the future’s looking bright for these Futuremen. Check out the interview below for more.
