Matthew Sweeney and Orbit are back again bringing you the best new music we can lay our hands on. Great new tunes this week coming from the likes of Tunng, Fool’s Gold and Erland and the Carnival. This weeks episode is named after Pluto’s largest moon, Charon.

In Greek mythology Charon was the ferryman of Hades, the God of the underworld. It was his job to carry the souls of the deceased across the River Acheron that divided the world of the living from the world of the dead.

Carrying you across a river to musical heaven this week we’ve got a veritable feast of new musical offerings. Whether it be the upbeat folktronica of Tunng or the off kilter indie delights of Fool’s Gold you’ll find something to entice you into our Orbit.

To buy a selection of music from this week’s Orbit and some of Matthew Sweeney’s musical recommendations visit the Orbit MP3 shop.
