This years Glasgow Film Festival is looking incredible. From the retrospective of Hollywood legend Cary Grant (seriously, has anyone looked better in a suit?) to Frightfest showing the best titled movie ever with Reykjavik Whale Watching Massacre, this years festival is NOT to be missed!
As you are probably sick of hearing by now us PodcARTer’s are film DAFT! Our tastes are wide and varied and from my love of asian cinematic masterpieces like Oldboy, to Ally’s love of musical theatre on the big screen (yes, thats right) you can pretty much bet your ass that if we are not at a gig or listening to music we are watching films.
I have been going to the festival for a few years now and have watched it grown into possibly my fabourite 10 days of the year. I asked the festival organisers if PodcART could help in any way with the festival this year and this weeks podcast represents the fruits of our labour. There is no music in this weeks podcast, well, apart from the wonderous musical interlude provided by Panda Su with Moviegoer!! I hope the podcast highlights the passion of the people involved and acts as a taster for the delights on offer at this years festival.
Don’t forget the festival itself is not only about film and their are some amazing musical events taking place. Check out the programme provided by The Arches (Mogwai, Pere Ubu, White Stripes, Zombie Zombie) and our good friends at Radio Magnetic have programmed musical events for The Magic Lantern Short Film Festival. Highlights from that include amazing DJ sets and a programme of videos showing the history of Glasgow indie music which is definitely one to say, “I was there when………”
