Every month, we’ll be showcasing a selection of our favourite free downloads, new releases, DJ mixes and music videos from around the web.
Following July’s phenomenal output, here’s our top picks from August.
LV & Das Kapital Ft. Okmalumkoolkat - Inhliziyo Yami Izibozi
In the run up to the release of their album on Hyperdub, LV very kindly released this track as a free download. Although it doesn’t appear on the album, it’s a great example of the energy of the album, and features Das Kapital plus Okmalumkoolkat, who appears extensively on the album.
Set to be the second release on Julio Bashmore’s Boardwalk Records, Zed Bias aka Maddslinky’s deep roller, Cumpuphonic, has stepped up to the mark, following the summer anthem, Au Seve. No official video as of yet…
Last month, we covered the free beat tape from Melé, titled Melé Vanelé Volume 1, including this gem, Gold Casino. You can still grab it for free here.
The second track from the AA side from Bondax, this brilliant track is just one of many great productions the teenage duo have rustled up this year, and have gained much support in the underground music scene, including the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs.
Founder and member of the unstoppable A$AP Mob, A$AP Ferg’s latest offering firmly made the rounds in the RM office this month with the release of their recent mixtape, Lord$ Never Worry, which dropped at the end of August.
This suprise release from Fantastic Mr Fox got us excited back at the beginning of August, with it’s jackin’ chicago-house touch. It dropped on August 13 on Black Acre Recordings, as a limited vinyl only release.
Aaliyah – Enough Said Feat. Drake
Big news in August came in the shape of Drake and his posthumous Aaliyah album project, then this little teaser began to float around. Drakes affinity with the singer will no doubt come across in the production, and make for a great album, so we’ll be keeping our ears to the ground for more.
Produced by Kenny Beats, this free download began to hit blogs mid-August, and follows various collaborations with A$AP Rocky this year, including Brand New Guy and Hands On The Wheel.
Continuing to grow from strength to strength, Airhead’s very exciting new release dropped just at the end of August. Following his earlier release for R&S, Wait, the London producer has done it again, with a much more club feel to this latest track.
