Orbit:
04.09.08 | Tethys

The Orbit show comes around again with the first instalment of note worthy music since the launch of the new radio magnetic website. Woop Woop!!

To celebrate as always we have named the show after one of the celestial beings that orbit the sun in our very own solar system. This week we have the great honour of dedicating this prime selection to Tethys, one of the many moons that orbits the giant planet Saturn.

In Greek mythology Tethys may not be known to many but has got quite a noteworthy reputation as the daughter of Uranus and Gaia but also the sister and wife of Oceanus. Quite a heady concoction for Christmas dinner and family trips in the country we think you’ll agree. Not only this but she is also the mother of the Nile, Alpheus and, Maeander as well as being the mother of roughly three thousand Oceanids.

Tethys, you will find, is very similar to the great goddess of the underground UK music scene who is both sister and wife of the American underground music scene. However, luckily for us she gave birth to dubstep, jungle and boy bands as well as about 3000 sub genres of every form of music imaginable.

Yes we love to categories things but on the Orbit show there’s only two categories of music. It’s either on the Tracklist or in the shit box.
