Bob Hillary and the Massive Mellow play the Jazz Bar in Edinburgh on Sunday 1 October. The gig marks the first of three live appearances in the Scottish capital, playing the following nights at the monthly Acoustic Edinburgh and Secret CDs events. We recommend you try and catch them live.

The Edinburgh gigs follow on from the well received summer tour the band completed showcasing tracks from debut album Nature’s Pace. The music of Bob Hillary and the Massive Mellow uniquely combines soul, folk and ambient electronica with Hillary’s soft and hypnotic vocals. They’ve recently been signed by TCF Records in the UK and their next album Love will be released by the label in 2012.

At T in the Park, 2011, Radio Magnetic partnered with Tennent’s Lager and T Break to record all of the 16 Scottish acts that beat over 1,000 other entries from other bands to perform on the legendary T Break Stage.

Next up in the series, Glasgow duo Conquering Animal Sound who consist of producer James Scott and vocalist Anneke Kampman. The two combine to produce a delicately crafted ambient/electronic sound with soft melodic vocals and have enjoyed much critical acclaim due to their debut release, Kammerspiel.

This month Platform, one of Glasgow’s finest arts venues brings you this year’s Eastern Promise event, an exciting two day music festival running from the Friday 30 September to Sat 1 October.

Bringing you a diverse programme of unique and interesting international and UK bands for the second year running. Friday’s genre defying line up features English folk singer Nancy Elizabeth, Scotland’s own 7VWWVW and Withered Hand, who will be performing unplugged, as well as Smalltown Supersound signed, Scandinavian experimental jazz band, The Thing. Headlining on Friday, German post-rockers Tarwater – an instrumental duo featuring Bernd Jestram and Ronald Lippok.

Saturday’s line up is brought alive by the electronic beats of Animal Magic Tricks and Conquering Animal Sound, who take to the stage fresh from their recent T Break Stage appearance at T in the Park 2011. Norwegian multi-instrumentalist Silje Nes and local indie legends The Pastels will be there too. Saturday’s headline act will see Tarwater‘s Ronald Lippok take to the stage again with Berlin based post punk infused techno outfit To Rococo Rot.

There will be a Scottish Independent Record Fair on the Saturday night to top it all off. We assure you, this will be a really great festival. And, a total bargain at £15 for both days.

Too Many Fireworks is an independent record label from Glasgow, Scotland. now relocated to Warsaw in Poland.  The too many fireworks podcast (2mfcast) is a semi-regular stab at creating a decent music show playing the best in modern classical, independent, ambient, electronic and post-rock music. It features DJ sets, interviews and other chat as well as the odd surprise thrown in.

We return after a few months’ hiatus with a new series of podcasts we’ve decided to call Less Chat, More Taxi.  The series will feature a selection of mixes by bands, artists and friends of the label all with one simple aim; to create the ultimate post-clubbing mix.
