Radio Magnetic and Matthew Sweeney return for another selection of brand new hits this week featuring Swindle, !!! and Neon Indian.

Listen online to Radio Magnetic’s new music show which this week features brand new music from Swindle, !!! and Neon Indian. This weeks episode is named after the dwarf planet Ceres.

In ancient Roman religion, Ceres was the goddess of agriculture, grain crops, fertility and motherly relationships. Throughout the Roman era, the Latin word ceres was synonymous with grain and, by extension, with bread.

Ceres must be watching over the muiscal world this week as we’ve got a luscious crop of ripe and fertile musical selections, cropped and ready for your listening pleasure. Whether it be the grimey delights of Macca or the funky wonder of Swindle’s Meleka remix you’ll find something to entice you into our orbit.

Welcome to the first show from Matthew Craig, the DJ behind Glasgow’s One More Tune nights. Here’s what Matthew had to say about his first endeavour on Radio Magnetic. Enjoy the mix!

One More Tune began life as a party three years ago and now hosts nights at The Art School, Glasgow every second Saturday of the month. The Arty nights and this show (cheers dudes!) are both about finding gems throughout all genres. Watch out! We may play songs you hate or, worse, play tunes you love and mix them badly.

For us, repeating and codifying one sound isn’t enough, the real magic is bringing unlikely sources together to create a new sound, and to try hard to magnify the best bits from what we’ve heard in an attempt to provide one moment of clarity for someone out there in this urban chaos we love and call Glasgow.

music = hope

Radio Magnetic and Matthew Sweeney return with new interplanetary musical offerings featuring Arcade Fire, James Yuill and L-Vis 1990

Listen online to Radio Magnetic’s weekly new music show which this week features brand new music from James Yuill, L-Vis 1990 and Arcade Fire. This week’s episode is named after Pluto’s moon Nyx.

In Greek mythology, Nyx was the primordial goddess of the night. A shadowy figure, Nyx stood at the beginning of creation and was the mother of personified gods such as Hypnos (sleep) and Thanatos (death). Her appearances in mythology are sparse, but reveal her as a figure of exceptional power and beauty.

Much like Nyx, this weeks episode is a figure of exceptional power and beauty, new music style. Whether it be the chilled out dubstep of Disclosure or the folktronica glory of James Yuill, you’ll find something to entice you into our orbit.

Radio Magnetic's weekly new music show returns with intergalatic offerings from the likes of D Double E, Ramadanman and These Furrows.

Listen online to Radio Magnetic’s weekly round up of the best new music around.

We’ve got brand new music from the likes of Ramadanman, Tweak Bird and D Double E plus we spoke to Darrel from These Furrows about their new single. This weeks episode is named after Neptune’s newest known moon Caliban.

In Shakespeare’s play The Tempest, Caliban was a freckled monster who was human but who’s appearance was more like that of a monster. Apparently his mother Sycorax concieved him during a romp with the devil.

This week we’ve mated with the devil and the offspring are this week’s tracks. Whether it be the off kilter indie of These Furrows or the grimey delights of D Double E you’ll find something to entice you into our orbit.

To buy a selection of music from this week’s Orbit and some of Matthew Sweeney’s musical recommendations visit the Orbit MP3 shop.

Brand new music this week coming from the likes of Ghetts, Kode9 and Panda Bear.

Listen online to Radio Magnetic’s round up of the best new music of the last week. This week we’ve got loads of new bangers coming from the likes of Ghetts, Kode9 and Panda Bear. This weeks episode is named after Neptune’s fourth moon Galatea.

In Greek Mythology was a nereid, or sea nymph, who was in love with a man called Acis, who was the spirit of the the river Acis. The couple were happy. Unfortunately a jealous cyclops Polyphemus was not happy with this arrangement and murdered Acis with a boulder. Gutted. The then distraught, Galatea turned Acis’ blood into a river.

This week, we’ve got more than enough new music to destroy the union of a mythological couple. Whether it be the grimey delights of Ghetts or the out-there ambience of Panda Bear you’ll find something to entice you into our orbit.

To buy a selection of music from this week’s Orbit and some of Matthew Sweeney’s musical recommendations visit the Orbit MP3 shop.
