Orbit is back again bringing you the finest new music this planet has to offer. Fresh offerings this week coming from the likes of Flying Lotus, Broken Social Scene and Foals. This weeks episode is named after Jupiters smallest moon Leda.

In Greek mythology, Leda was the daughter of the Aetolian king Thestius and wife of Tyndareus, king of Sparta. As you may have guessed by now Zeus fancied her. I mean who didn’t he want a piece of ? As always Zeus had a cunning plan to seduce her. Turning himself into a swan, he fell into her arms for protection from a pursuing eagle. Later that night, as Leda lay with her husband, Zeus cosummated their relationship.

If all this bird based beastiality is starting to get to you, fear not as we’ve also got a stack of brand new tunes for your listening pleasure. Whether it be the ambient dubstep of Ginz and Kool Money Kwame or the Scottish indie delights of We Were Promised Jetpacks you’ll find something to entice you into our Orbit.

To buy a selection of music from this week’s Orbit and some of Matthew Sweeney’s musical recommendations visit the Orbit MP3 shop.

Acid House! Acid Techno! Acid Booty Bass! Line Idle supplies an eclectic selection of retro technological beats and ubiquitous 303 squelch.

The eagerly-awaited blast of acid mayhem gets delivered courtesy of Line Idle; Team Little Rock briefly fall silent in awe. In anticipation of their much-discussed vinyl launch, Team Little Rock demonstrate why that oscillating 303 can really turn your spine into a bassline, with a selection of Line Idle’s finest vinyl. It’s a tight, heavy beast of mix that at once pulverises and delicately caresses the eardrums.

Team Little Rock, House Machine, Line Idle, Speedy, OCD. The Black Sparrow, March 06 2010. Free entry.

We Sink Ships is a collaboration featuring Heidi Kuisma, a Finnish born, Glasgow based photographer and Neil Milton, a Scottish born photographer, musician and record label owner living in Warsaw, Poland.

Together they create and curate online photo exhibitions and present weekly podcasts hosted on Radio Magnetic.

On the first Tuesday of every month, We Sink Ships will feature something they love – it might be a band, a label, an artist, a gallery or a venue – then Neil will play out with 45 minutes of electro-disco-wonk-pop.

The following Tuesday each month, We Sink Ships will invite a guest DJ to record a set which will be preceded by an introduction to the guest.

On the 3rd Tuesday of the month, Heidi will take her turn to play some music but not before they’ve discussed a monthly Nick-Hornby-esque top 5.

Finishing off the month, the 4th show will be something a little different; with the return of Neil’s record label, We Sink Ships are presenting the Too Many Fireworks podcast, featuring music from the label, past and present, plus Neil’s latest ambient, minimalist or alternative-classical finds.

We begin episode 3, an Erased Tapes flavoured episode, with an interview with Robert Raths, the record label’s owner. Neil caught up with him last week on Skype and he told us about the label’s history, his processes and a little bit about what’s coming up in the future. After that, it’s Neil’s turn on the “decks” and alongside some eighties classics (or horrors, depending on your taste) he mixes some Erased Tapes artists. Enjoy and remember to let us know what you think on our blog via our website.

Orbit is back bringing you the best new music that we can get our hands on. This week features brand new tracks from the likes of Udachi, Signals and Love.Stop.Repeat. This week’s episode is named after Jupiter’s moon Sinope.

In Greek mythology Sinope was one of the daughters of Anopus. As with many ladies of the time, Zeus wanted to have his way with her. Apparently though, Anopus had a bit more going on upstairs than your average ancient Greek lady as when Zeus agreed to grant her one wish she wished to remain a virgin for the rest of her life. Cunning. Not only did this trick work on Zeus, but years later the same trick worked on Apollo and she did in fact remain unblemished for the rest of her days.

This week we’ve used all of our virginal cunning to select the finest new music thats made it’s way into our wandering hands. Whether it be the alt folk of Love.Stop.Repeat. or the wonderous folktronica of Tunng you’ll find something to entice you into our Orbit.

To buy a selection of music from this week’s Orbit and some of Matthew Sweeney’s musical recommendations visit theOrbit MP3 shop.

Paying homage to a little one on one, doggy dancing, swinging the axe, back door boogie, going down the hershey highway, dancing to the tune of shaking the sheets, jiggery pokery, coitus prolongatus, horizontal mambo, strollin’ down the cadbury canal, copulation, nooky push-push, fornication, rumpy
pumpy, personal relations, bump and grind, playing one’s ace of spade and receiving the jack, night games!!

We didn’t manage to get our favourite dancing disco gnome to get his tap aff for the occasion (booo!), we did however play three Prince tracks back to back in our excitement and witnessed an awfae lotta heavy pettin’!

Matthew Sweeney and Orbit are back again bringing you the best new music we can get our hands on. Brand spanking new releases this week coming from the likes of Three Trapped Tigers, The Twilight Sad and Darwin Deez. This weeks episode is named after Jupiter’s moon Pasiphae.

In Greek mythology Pasiphae was the daughter of Helios, the sun. After a curse from Poseidon she was left with an unnatural desire towards white bulls. To facilitate her needs, Pasiphae had Daedalus construct a portable wooden bull complete with realistic cow hide and thus the Minotaur was born.

Facilitating your musical needs this week we’ve got a veritable host of mock bovine treats. Whether it be the Scottish hip hop delights of Loki and Louie or the lo-fi indie of Darwin Deez, you’ll find something to entice you into our Orbit.

Finishing off the month, the 4th show will be something a little different; with the return of Neil’s record label, We Sink Ships are presenting the Too Many Fireworks podcast, featuring music from the label, past and present, plus Neil’s latest ambient, minimalist or alternative-classical favourites.

This week, we open with a discussion of our top 5 cover versions before handing the torch to worriedaboutsatan’s Gav and Tom to tell us theirs. There are some cracking covers in there and one or two surprises. After that, Heidi takes you through to the end with a lovely selection of tunes. As always, we really hope you enjoy. Remember to come along to our blog and give us your top 5 selection.
