Our resident videographer and film maker, Andy Brown, has been part of the extended RM team for some time now and is responsible for most of the film production work we produce with our parent company, Inner Ear. Currently working on projects for T In The Park and the 5 Minutes In Edinburgh series, he also, in his spare time is an integral part of the Louis Den collective of artists.

Andy has been making waves in amongst the YouTube community since early 2006 with a range of music production related videos and since then his YouTube work has collectively clocked up over a million hits. He’s also involved with Birmingham based music producer community Louis Den and in August 2007 he met Darren Hay and what started as an ambitious idea finally turned into an 80 minute DVD! Check out the excerpt from the DVD above.

This is FS Green, he’s 20 years old, from Amsterdam and he features in Behind Closed Doors Vol.2, a hip hop production DVD magazine filmed, edited and released by Andy Brown and Darren Hay. They pressed up a limited run of 500 hand-numbered DVDs and have 200 left for sale. The 80 minute DVD features talent from up and down the UK as well as overseas in Holland. There’s inside tips, tricks, beatmaking techniques, interviews, insights and of course beats! Vol.3 is currently in the works and is expected to be released sometime in 2011.

One More Tune began life as a party three years ago and now hosts nights at The Art School, Glasgow every second Saturday of the month. The Arty nights and this show (cheers dudes!) are both about finding gems throughout all genres. Watch out! We may play songs you hate or, worse, play tunes you love and mix them badly.

For us, repeating and codifying one sound isn’t enough, the real magic is bringing unlikely sources together to create a new sound, and to try hard to magnify the best bits from what we’ve heard in an attempt to provide one moment of clarity for someone out there in this urban chaos we love and call Glasgow.

Raekwon Live at OFF Festival

DJ Zaguiero, the man behind Radio Magnetic’s monthly Sub Tropic alternative and world music show is over in Poland at OFF Festival. Whilst he’s there he’s managed to get us some excellent little snippets of video and some full live audio recordings from some of the excellent acts on the bill.

Bands and acts appearing over the course of the three day festival in Katowice include, amongst notable others, Joker, Dinosaur Jr, Raekwon, Matmos, Toro Y Moi, Tunng, No Age, The Fall, Mouse On Mars, Dam Mantle, The Dum Dum Girls, Trans AM, The Tindersticks, Darkstar and The Flaming Lips. An incredible line-up I’m sure you’ll agree.

OFF Festival Preview

DJ Zagueiro presents his preview for the upcoming OFF festival in Poland. The festival boasts one of the most interesting line-ups we’ve seen this year anywhere in the world with the likes of Raekwon, Darkstar, Dinosaur Jr, The Fall, Flaming Lips and tUnE-YaRdS.
