Wrong Island return with this Hi-NRG mix in anticipation of Teamy's appearance at the Menergy Heathers Party at The Flying Duck, Glasgow. Lots more news from Messers Teamy and Larry too. Have a read and a listen.

Listen online, stream and download the monthly Wrong Island Mix from Teamy and Dirty Larry.

Well HE-LLO there, you handsome stranger, you! Welcome to this month’s Wrong Island podcast. There’s a lot happening on the Island this month:

First of all, Larry and hopefully Teamy, play at The Universal Wrong Island Versus Kitty Kat Klub on Saturday 4 September.

Teamy is covering at David Barbarossa’s Thing in Nice N Sleazy’s on the evening before this too, Friday 3 September. He’ll be trying his best to fill the disco legend’s beard that weekend, so expect proper disco and funk jams all night long. If only there was room for roller skates!

Then it’s our third birthday on Saturday 11 September so we’ll be having a big party in Sleazy’s where we’ll also be having the live debut of T&A as part of the celebrations. T&A for those who don’t know already, is the music/remix production name that Teamy works under with our good buddy, Aleks Jurczek. Check out some stuff here: soundcloud.com/tandaproduction

The live show should be a bit tougher: close to the stuff Daft Punk did in the mid to late 90s.

We’ll see you on the dancefloor.

As if all that wasn’t enough in September, a week later, Teamy is playing the Menergy Heathers party. Glasgow’s finest gay/tranny dance night has picked the film Heathers for the theme this month so jump back to the 80s, get yr scrunchies and yr croquet mallets out and get ready for some BIG FUN.

This month’s mix is pretty much a taster of what you can expect to hear at The Flying Duck on the Friday 17 September. HOW VERY.

Oh yeah, AND we just did a mix for the excellent LuckyMe Collective, so go check that out too: thisisluckyme.com

This month’s podcast is dedicated to all the Martha Dumptrucks in the world who hated school but now meet the Heathers from their childhoods and think ‘YOU were the cool kids?!? and also to Tranny Paul: Glasgow has lost some sparkle this month. RIP.

And check the rest of Wrong Island’s mixes on Radio Magnetic.

Welcome to the first show from Matthew Craig, the DJ behind Glasgow’s One More Tune nights. Here’s what Matthew had to say about his first endeavour on Radio Magnetic. Enjoy the mix!

One More Tune began life as a party three years ago and now hosts nights at The Art School, Glasgow every second Saturday of the month. The Arty nights and this show (cheers dudes!) are both about finding gems throughout all genres. Watch out! We may play songs you hate or, worse, play tunes you love and mix them badly.

For us, repeating and codifying one sound isn’t enough, the real magic is bringing unlikely sources together to create a new sound, and to try hard to magnify the best bits from what we’ve heard in an attempt to provide one moment of clarity for someone out there in this urban chaos we love and call Glasgow.

music = hope

Avus can count himself as one of the Border Community label’s founding fathers, pledging his allegiance to the cause as early as release number four, the low-slung bassline action of Real, before giving further substance to his declaration with 2007′s deliciously raw spinetingler Furry Hat.

An impressive array of labels including Klang Elektronik, Perc Trax, Manual Music and Poodle Records have since called upon the recording services of Avus, but for the self-assured and succinct Poppy EP he finds himself safely back at home in the cuddly community where it all began.

Dougal Perman sequences a selection of upfront new electronic music, beguiling songs and forgotten gems.

The second episode in the summer 2010 series of Magnetism captures the mood of music from around the world, including a Radio Magnetic classic from right back in the early days, from Omar Feruk Tekbelik, via Hefner, plus recent cuts from London’s Last Japan, Roots Manuva and Rodney P guesting on France’s Flore. A Scottish remix of an Italian tune on an Australian label compliments new electronic beats from Scotland alongside a Welsh-Brazilian collaboration. Finally, soothing songs from Iceland give way to enigmatic stories from the USA.

Radio Magnetic and Matthew Sweeney return with new interplanetary musical offerings featuring Arcade Fire, James Yuill and L-Vis 1990

Listen online to Radio Magnetic’s weekly new music show which this week features brand new music from James Yuill, L-Vis 1990 and Arcade Fire. This week’s episode is named after Pluto’s moon Nyx.

In Greek mythology, Nyx was the primordial goddess of the night. A shadowy figure, Nyx stood at the beginning of creation and was the mother of personified gods such as Hypnos (sleep) and Thanatos (death). Her appearances in mythology are sparse, but reveal her as a figure of exceptional power and beauty.

Much like Nyx, this weeks episode is a figure of exceptional power and beauty, new music style. Whether it be the chilled out dubstep of Disclosure or the folktronica glory of James Yuill, you’ll find something to entice you into our orbit.
