Once Cliff returned from overdosing on tapas and finding himself in the middle of social unrest in Barcelona, the Phuturelabs boys returned to the Magnetic studios for their 8th Experiment.

As the winter nights are drawing in, the boys don the sweatbands and throw in some techno to keep temperatures up. Fear not however, the usual mixture of dubstep, slo-mo house, electronica and IDM is also in there to level things out.

The Phuturelabs collective return for their fourth experiment, with the summer breeze in their sails the boys bring you a fine selection of techno, house, dubstep and electronica with a side dish of ambience and IDM. There’s also a couple of tasters for this weekend’s RockNess festival and Cliff takes up the 105BPM challenge. Pass the Pimms.

Adam Dyment, AKA, The Duke Dumont is behind the wheel of the latest Fabric release. His Fabriclive 51 hits shops on Monday 12 April. Check out this exclusive radio mix he’s put together to accompany the official Fabric compilation.

“My whole philosophy is: don’t just jump in with the latest genre. If you’re wearing a badge of a particular dance music brand you can make a lot of money very quickly, but begin to loathe what you love – the really good stuff comes from the heart and the soul, without any external pressures, and letting your imagination take precedence. Essentially I cannot bring myself to stick to a genre, or BPM. Making music, and listening to music must be an all consuming pleasure, and never a chore.”

“I’m not trying to promote a genre with this mix, the ethos is simply to make something that I’ll still really love in a few years’ time. It’s all good music. The mix is hypnotic, with structure and atmosphere – it represents what I play: groove-based, bordering on the techy side and all with a sense of emotion, which a venue like fabric allows me to express.”

Ayrshire’s Frogpocket joins Team Little Rock in the studio to play some records, presenting rarities, obscure demos and surreal excursions into sound from his extensive collection of music.

The almighty Frogpocket plays breakcore, IDM and pure weirdness, mixing from Ipod, CDs and vinyl. Many of these tracks are demos from the Mouthmoth label Frogpocket first released on, and have never been played out elsewhere. His new album Fruity is due out “sometime sometime”, and he’s already booked for a live session on Radio Magnetic in the near future.

Now it’s 2009 and after being swooped on by the infamous Black Acre orphanage for electronically gifted, A.K. have seen a meteoric assent through the Dubstep scene via a pincer movement performed by both Rob Booth and DJ N-Type. The catalyst; a little tune called Pinball capturing the best elements of modern electronic music and fusing them into an 8bit punch up between Rusko & DJ Shadow.

To come….. after wowing the kids with their non-genre specific brand of Glitch funk A.K. will be featuring as primary remixer on the pending release of Unique 3′s classic “Shades of Grey” Via Mutate Records (April).

While keeping true to their roots, wonky outfitter Dealmaker will be dropping the vertigo inducing Donk! EP.

Lastly and on the not too distant Horizon, Black Acre will be presenting A.K.s debut album to the world, as yet untitled early reports liken the listening experience to an overly warm bubble bath with Rick James & Barbarella while battling biz markie on Street fighter 2 turbo on the SNES.
