Symbiosis enters 2012 with a whopper of a show – 135 minutes to be exact – featuring an exclusive mix from Leeds UK heavyweights LD50 and Ruckspin.

Part of the Central Beatz collective, the duo have toured up and down the UK in support of some of the biggest and best names in drum n’ bass, as well as promoting club events in Leeds and London.
Rob celebrates 1 year of the Electronic Explorations show this week with a suitably brilliant dubstep mix from Bristolian, pioneer, Pinch for a present.

We’ve been following Rob closely since the summer and in August proudly added Electronic Explorations to our roster of shows. Since then Rob’s brought some amazing mixes to the station with the likes of Pangaea, Al Haca, Madd EP, Grievous Angel, Kowton, Elite Barbarian, The Third Man, The Teknoist, Starkey and Ebola. Not to mention his own unique presenting talent and impeccable tune selection. Happy Birthday Rob and long my Electronic Explorations continue!

Now onto this weeks guest. Most of you will recognise Pinch named next to his production buddy Peverelist but you should be hearing about these guys in their own right as well. Especially after the quality of this mix from Pinch, aka Rob Ellis. You can catch Rob heading up the Bristolian ‘dubstep meets minimal techno’ charge alongside the likes of Headhunter where producers have been mixing the two genres for a while now to devestating effect. We at Radio Magnetic are particularly fond of this strand of dubstep and very excited that Rob Explorations managed to get hold of Rob Pinch for this exclusive.

Well in Rob! Birthday drinks on us when you reach us north of the border.

This week Rob Booth has not one but two guests dropping a mix on Electronic Explorations, Budapest resident DJ Madd and Romanian producer Alien Pimp.

This week Rob Booth has not one but two guests dropping a mix on Electronic Explorations, DJ Madd and Alien Pimp.

Budapest resident Peter Simon aka DJ MADD has been behind the turntables spinning Drum & Bass in all major cities in Hungary. His production carrier just started to blow up, as his tunes got picked up by Rufige badboy DJ Vapour for his own 36 HERTZ Recordings.

He may have only just made his first moves in dubstep, but his name has already been saturated within the scene. With support from Mary Anne Hobbs, Skream, Breakage, Joe Nice, Martyn, 2562, Ikonika etc; his tunes can already be heard in various sets around the globe.

myspace.com/djmaddbeats
myspace.com/36hertz

Alien Pimp was present in the musical life of Romania first as a radio DJ and journalist since the early age of 14 (no error, its for real!), Alien Pimp is the less known founder of one of the most acclaimed electronic music act in Romania in the 90s, NSK, in 1996. After a first gig, he left the group for a solo career, starting 2 projects: Alien Pimp and Sonic Tonic.

Since early 2005, his dnb label, SoundKraft Records, developed two separate branches: artist management/booking and event promotion. Some of the best talents in East-European breakbeat and drumnbass work with SoundKraft and as well over 50 events in 2005 have the SoundKraft signature on.

His dubstep label, DubKraft Records, topped charts on juno, chemical records, beatport and digital-tunes and his first release, Robots & Cellos was a bestseller for almost 1 year after being released.

Rob Booth welcomes Wrong Music front man Ebola to the show with an exclusive mix of everything that's right about heavy bass driven music.

Ebola started making electronic music in 2000 using a walkman with a pitch control, and some Commodore 64 loading tapes. He moved to Brighton in 2001, formed the Wrong Music crew with DJ Scotch Egg, Roger Species and Shitmat, and began organizing chaotic parties with ridiculous line-ups from around the globe.

After buying a computer, doing a live session for Rob da Bank on Radio 1 in 2006, and getting a slot at the Glade Festival, Ebola began to establish and develop his low-frequency, glitched-out “grime-core” sound. Since then he has taken his explosive live set all over the UK, Europe and some parts of America.

He has collaborated with Otto von Schirach, Neil Landstrumm and Shitmat, and shared the stage with Clark, Mu-ziq, Wolf Eyes, The Bug, Scorn, Ceephax Acid Crew, Mark One, Duracell, KK Null, to name a few.

These days Ebola’s live sets are aimed at the dancefloor, and take in many “bass-oriented” styles from dubstep to dancehall, breakcore to booty-techno, crunk, grime, gabba etc.. and showcase his complete lack of ability to stick to any one genre or tempo.

“..I must admit, I’m a lot more concerned with making people dance than I ever used to be……but if I can make a few people fall over in the process then that is of course, a bonus.”

He has a few other side projects going on. Some of which you will know about, others you probably won’t.

Starkey is quite possibly Philidelphia’s finest dubstep, grime, bass, artist and the latest signing to the infamous Planet Mu label.

His debut album for Planet Mu is out this Autumn titled “Ephemeral Exhibits”. Recently he has featured on the Radio One Mary Anne Hobbs Bass Generation show which featured some of the artists expected to be massive over the next 12 months. If you didn’t get a chance to hear it first time round have a scour on Google as it’s well worth checking out for anyone into their dark, dub filled, bass driven music.

The second date... will you get a kiss, maybe a snog, maybe more? Nobody knows but at least with our Tony you know you're destined for some full on aural action.

If you apply the rules of dating to working out how many episodes a radio show has to put out before it is called a ‘series’ then Radio Magnetic’s head of music, Tony Black has still a way to go before The Beat Delivery and him move in together.

A second date means ‘I like you, but I’m not sure how much’ therefore it works out that this second show is the one which dangles the juicy carrot of possibility whilst , in the background, looms the spiky stick of rejection.

Luckily Tony’s a trooper so future shows are bound to happen – although when, I’m sure that not even he can tell you that.

So make sure to get the most out of this one; tarted up with the likes of James Pants, the Avalanches and finishing with a absolutely wicked remix of Stardust’s, ‘The Music Sounds Better With You,’ it’s better than a full frontal snog any day!
