Together they create and curate online photo exhibitions and present weekly podcasts hosted on Radio Magnetic.

On the first Tuesday of every month, We Sink Ships will feature something they love – it might be a band, a label, an artist, a gallery or a venue – then Neil will play out with 45 minutes of electro-disco-wonk-pop.

The following Tuesday each month, We Sink Ships will invite a guest DJ to record a set which will be preceded by an introduction to the guest.

On the 3rd Tuesday of the month, Heidi will take her turn to play some music but not before they’ve discussed a monthly Nick-Hornby-esque top 5.

Finishing off the month, the 4th show will be something a little different; with the return of Neil’s record label, We Sink Ships are presenting the Too Many Fireworks podcast, featuring music from the label, past and present, plus Neil’s latest ambient, minimalist or alternative-classical finds.

Another month comes to an end and we bring you the second We Sink Ships presents too many fireworks show. This month, Neil plays more classical music from Iceland (are you spotting a theme here?) and elsewhere, interviews English composer and musician Clem Leek and starts his celebrations of Chopin’s 200th Anniversary year.

We are proud to welcome onboard in 2010 We Sink Ships. This trio of mixes is a little snippet of what to expect from the weekly podcast from them. And here’s what they had to say about the whole concept of We Sink Ships too.

“We Sink Ships is a collaboration featuring Heidi Kuisma, a Finnish born, Glasgow based photographer and Neil Milton, a Scottish born photographer, musician and record label owner living in Warsaw in Poland.

Finishing off the month, Tuesday number 4 will be something a little different; with the return of Neil’s record label, We Sink Ships are presenting the Too Many Fireworks podcast, featuring music from the label, past and present, plus Neil’s latest ambient, minimalist or alternative-classical finds.

We begin with a prelude. Neil kicks us off with some four-to-the-floor, Heidi takes over with a typically eclectic selection and Neil brings us to a close with a too many fireworks mix.”

It’s been roughly seven days since the last episode, so ’bout time we brought you another brand spanking new episode of Orbit. This week we’ve got new tracks from Girls, Sniper Sniper and Milktooth. This week’s Orbit is named after Jupiter’s third moon. Amalthea.

In Greek mythology Amalthea was one of the foster mothers of Zeus. She fed and nurtured him in a cave as his father wanted to eat him. To drown out the sounds of his crying, she gathered the Korybantes to bash there shields and spears together so the young God would remain safe.

Just like the Korybantes, we’ve got enough new music to drown out the sounds of a screaming baby. Whether it be the pop punk delights of Early States or the quiet folk pop of S.H. Davidson you’ll find something to entice you into our Orbit.

Tracklisting:

Health – Die Slow (Tobacco Remix) – Lovepump United

Girls – Hellhole Ratrace – Turnstile Music

Our RockNess series continues this week with a blistering techno set from Glasgow’s Harvey McKay. Harvey rocked the Soma stage on the Friday of the festival and you can listen to it right here.

Harvey McKay is one of a school of new young artists to come out from Glasgow’s thriving underground club circuit. His first residency was at Tin Pin Alley at the less-than-legal age of 16. Since then his DJing career has been on the up, touring with Smirnoff Ice and M8 Magazine before he finally made the decision to turn his ear to production.

His influences range between Alex Under, Mark Romboy, James Holden and Soma label-bosses Slam. Ironically enough one of Harvey’s first attempts at production was attempting to recreate the sounds he heard on Slam’s Alien Radio album, in particular the deep techy bass frequencies.

Check out his set from RockNess 2009.

California-based John Tejada is one of the most productive DJ/producers in modern dance music. While most of his colleagues work on establishing a signature sound within one specific genre, Tejada works in all genres simultaneously.

Most often associated with his peers in techno from Detroit Tejada has embraced electronic music, expanding his talents as a recording artist, producer, remixer, DJ and label owner. Tejada’s classical heritage can also be heard in his live collaborative project, ‘I’m not a gun’, featuring jazz guitarist Takeshi Nishimoto who’ve enjoyed much success all over the world.

“When I finally listened to the mix, I put a lot of attention to detail of the way the tracks came together in and out. I did edit the tracks quite a bit, but it’s really subtle and it just helps with the flowing journey, to take it one step above of what you might hear when a DJ plays out. I wanted the whole track selection to turn into one piece of music: a techno-classical piece that has movements and moods from start to finish, like conducting an electronic symphony.” – John Tejada

On fabric 44, John Tejada lays down another sublime mix from the label that’s well worth adding to you’re collection but don’t just take our word for it! Have a listen to this little taster and see for yourself.

Rob Booth welcomes Warlock, one of the co-founders of breakstep/dubstep/electro label Rag & Bone, hitting you with a mix of some fine tunes.

Rag & Bone is co-run by long time DJ’s Warlock & Noyeahno.

Their love of electronic music started independently way back in the late eighties with the birth of acid house and the early rave scene. With both being involved with pirate radio and playing at parties far and wide, it was inevitable that their paths would cross and their desire to pull these influences together to release forward thinking music lead to the birth of Rag & bone.

Artists who have released on Rag & Bone include Aaron Spectre, Kanji Kinetic, King Cannibal, Blackmass Plastics, FZV, Drop the Lime and not forgetting Noyeahno & Warlock.

Warlock mixes the second half of this Electronic Explorations episode with the first half being presented by Rob Booth.
